I have been trying to order a Bark River Mini Canadian (not easy - they are out of stock in a lot of places I've found). I want to try it as an edc. Does anyone know if it will fit in the pocket sheath for the A.G. Russell Woodswalker? Are there other reasonably priced pocket sheaths out there?

I don't have one of A.G.Russell's pocket sheaths, but I understand that they do fit.

There was an extensive discussion about this very thing on the BRKT page of the "other forum."

The Mini-C is a great little knife - there are some out there. Send me a PT for some suggestions.

The CRKT Mini Canadian fits the A.G.Russell's pocket sheath like a glove. I've been carrying one for a couple of years now. I've found the little Mini Canadian to be one of the handiest knives I've ever owned.

I've been searching for a BRKT "Carbon Fibermascus" handled, 2-3" blade knife, and the only one I've found is the Mini Canadian.

I'm still a little confused by the looks of the thing, but I've heard great things about them on here--and the A.G. Russel pocket sheath is an ideal carry setup for me.

I'd better go buy that CF Mini Canadian before someone else does!

...Incidentally, are there other websites than A.G. Russel and DLT Trading that keep BRKT's in stock? I've seen a few, but most of them only carry BRKT's in Blaze Orange or Jigged Bone.

Places to check:
DLT Trading Company
Sage Creek Outfitters
McKnight Cutlery
JRE Industries (They are actually a distributor, but if you call they can set you up!)
As of 10:30 pm Pacific Friday, these all had at least one interesting Mini-C!

Thanks for the suggestions, but I think I may have lucked out with bladematrix. I got an email confirming my order today rather than the dreaded "out of stock" message.

I had to settle for green canvas micarta (yawn) instead of curly maple, but I am happy to have found one. I think it's an older version because it lacks a lanyard hole. Good price too - $56 bucks plus $5 shipping.

ARRGH! Bladematrix just told me that they have no Mini Canadians! Whay is this knife so hard to get?

Can anyone suggest a similar pocketable fixed blade of the same quality and price range?

Yeah, I saw that one. Pretty neat, but a bit more $$. I just tried discountcutlery. If they're out of stock, I may pony up for that fancier one (if it is even still available).

You really need to go to Bark River's web site and send a message to Mike (owner and chief knife maker/designer) asking for what you want and who has it. He will see you right.
Bark Rivers are great knives--I like the Micro Canadians too--don't let the small size fool you, they are very handy unless you happen to have extra large hands.
Most have Kydex sheaths available too--ask Mike.

If my latest attempt to purchase doesn't pan out, I'll go straight to the source. I can't find an email contact on the Bark River site though - I guess I can phone them.

I looked on the AG Russel site - is the only way to get a pocket sheath by buying a wooswalker? Or can you get a pocket sheath alone?

I believe they sell them Separately.

You may have to call them to do that.

I think they have an 800 Number

Jim

Both Woodswalker sheaths (leather pocket and kydex neck) are available separately on their website. The pocket sheath is $10 bucks. I checked recently when I naively thought I could just effortlessly "point 'n' click" myself a Mini Canadian!

BRK&T is actually a pretty small operation, and they make knives for several different other names as well. When they make a particular model (like a Mini-Canadian), it can be awhile before they make another batch.

I've heard they're going to be doing a batch of Mini-Canadians before too long (a month or two?), so you will be able to get one eventually. If there is a particular handle material you want, contact one of the primary dealers, and they'll be sure you get it.

Hang in there! I have a sheep horn handled Mini-C on my belt right now, and it's one fine knife!

BTW, Foilist, as of Sunday night, the sites I listed above have a total of 6 Mini-Canadians, some for under $70. That's as cheap as you're gonna find a live one, unless you can find something on ebay. And you can be sure that when BRK&T makes them again, the price will be higher!
