they are almost identical size. pro caper is thicker at .148" and with 50-100B vs. the .125" thick 52-100 on the scalpel. trying to pick pick between the two.

is the corrosion resistance of the 50-100B greater than 52-100?

which is more durable?

which is more easy to sharpen?

which do you find facilitates the greatest ease of fine detail work?

Good questions.

The 50100B has some Vanadium and will be just a touch harder to sharpen.

But they are both great steels.

Very tough and easily sharpened compared to some of the tool steels.

I really like the 50100B in a chopper; I find that with a good heat treatment this steel will deliver a good balance of edge retention and toughness.

In a small knife I find they both work well.

thanks for the reply mike.

the tip on the caper looks more fragile than the psII; but, it is made with 50100B and is .148" thick. Would I have to worry about the caper being fragile in the tip more so than the psII?
