Broaches

Do any of these broaches work without a pilot hole, or do you guys use 5" long 1/8" bits to get down in there?

You have to start with a hole. I get extra long drill bits from the local home center and cut them down to the length I need.

I bought a 12" long 1/8" dealt bit from Lowes for about $5 and cut it to 6" or so.

...and though I've never tried one from those guys, I'd be shocked if they worked so much better than the sawzall blade that it justified getting one, for me.

Normally, this is my position on stuff, too, John, but I adore my Perry broaches. I'd spend it again in a heartbeat if I lost them. Also, they're built like something you WANT to cherish and use.
