Got this nice knife either prior to Covid or during Covid, can't remember exactly when, only that it is only a couple of years old. I was impressed with the finish of the stag handles and brass bolsters, but never took to the blade. The blade had Custom Knife Shop imprinted askew and the edge seemed to have been sharpened way too far and seemed too narrow to me. Since it was my grail pocket knife, I didn't complain, just thought I would use it as a Sunday go to meeting dress up knife and only used it around the house to cut fruit.

Notice over time that the blade was opening easier and easier, but a couple of days ago I went to cut a banana and the blade was falling loose from the body. I am sending it to Buck but wondering what happened. I don't mind paying for a new blade as I never liked the original, but it seems like there are lock back issues too.

Also what is the least expensive, yet most secure service to use when shipping to Buck?

Images of how the blade is dangling from the body and with the knife fully opened.

When you fill out the address label ... fill in as BKI , NOT buck knife. In shipping there is no such thing as cheap and secure. Shipping to and from insured to Chris Reeve cost me 20$ each way. Prices are probably higher now.
Use either ups or fedex, whichever serves your area better.
One more thing.. there is a return form on bucks website to fill out.
Good luck, it will work out.

Seems like a back spring issue. I bought a Buck 111 Classic off of Ebay that was lightly used and did the same thing. I returned it to the seller. I am sure Buck will correct the issue.
Thanks for the heads up.

Good point about the BKI as here in Connecticut anything seen as a weapon is frowned upon and may be misdirected in transit, especially by USPS.

The stag looks great. Keep.us updated and post some pictures after you get it back. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, will do, my understanding is there is a substantial backlog and waiting period. Probably won't see it back by the beginning of bow season, maybe by deer gun season. Really doesn't natter as I don't get out much anymore anyway, and I could outfit a platoon with the Bucks I have, lol.

Finally went into the mail to return to Buck today. 8-22-2022 so will get to see what the turnaround times are like these days.
My Buck knives represent good wholesome Christian American values and heritage to me. May be old fashioned but I am peculiar about my Bucks. Just the way it is.
When one has a problem its like a wart on a girlfriend's face.

Okay, impatience is getting the better of me. A little over two months since we mailed my Buck 110 off for repair. Got the call a couple of 3 weeks ago to pay and immediately did. It is the heart of my Buck stash and is sorely missed, as I was talking to the youngest son last night and going through my Bucks with him and it really was significant that my prettiest 110 was missing, although the 110 Elite is supremely beautiful by way of its build quality and utility. He's a benchmade guy and its probably my fault for not taking him hunting and fishing more.

Are they charging you to fix it? Did they say what was wrong with it? If it was defective I would think they would fix it for free under their lifetime warranty. I'm very curious what you had to pay for and why.

My bad, its been so long I forgot that I asked them to add the suede USA sheath to ship it back in, so that is what I had to pay full retail for, the rest was under warranty.

Buck says on its website that custom orders should be in by November 13th for delivery by Christmas.

I mailed my two year old custom back on August 22nd 2022 and I am still waiting for it. I am totally peeved and feel disrespected as a customer. A knife I paid almost $200 pre-inflation dollars for and have gotten very little use out of. Not sure if Buck can do anything now to take this displeasure away. Feeling like just box it up the way it is and send it back. I pretty much just don't care anymore. Maybe send it to Canada to Kyle Noseworthy, he could repair it and customize it with a quicker turn around time, because at this rate lifetime warranty means nothing.

Love warranties that I don't have to use. This knife was a lemon from the beginning, but I refused to believe Buck would do that. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

Hmm.🤔

Buck needs to step up their customer service and quality control significantly before they get any more of my money. Seems like they are just coasting on their reputation and no longer take much pride in their work. This isn't the first time I have heard of poor customer service having experienced it myself.

Two and a half months doesn't seem that long to me. If it were a tool in daily use, I could understand losing patience, but for a custom knife, I would rather they take their time.

I have built houses in that amount of time. Buck 110's are not rocket science. Not counting glue drying time, like twenty minutes total to effect that repair. There is an issue of respect here. It is a two year old knife, hardly used, the most work it has done is in opening and closing and the few oranges I peeled with it. It was too tight to open and close which now leads me to believe that is not a good sign for the locking bar mechanism as I had a 110 pro do the same thing and had to be sent back and was replaced.
