Broken back spring

Hi Jim,

What I've seen happen to stainless coil springs exposed to the weather under constant tension was that they broke at the corrosion specks. I wonder if they had a micro crack and that caused the corrosion or the other way around...

I suspect that's what happened and I think this is the second time I've heard something like this happening to backsprings...
