Broken BG42 tip, need opinions

I have serious doubts that the heat treat had anything to do with it although it could have. I was flicking it open while driving and for some dumb reason put my hand on the wheel and flicked it open again. That time the tip hit the windshield hard. So hard I thought I might have damaged the glass. When I looked at the knife I was disgusted with myself but I guess that's what I get.
As you may know, tile, glass, granite and similar materials impart quite a shock to steel so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing would have happened with any Military tip.

The tip was not near as bad as TLR described, I was very pleased when the knife arrived.

Did you not know that flicking while driving is dangerous. :D

Good advice. I tried to take a picture and realized it's not as bad as it seemed. BG42 on left, S30V on right. I did a pretty good sharpening job if I say so myself, it really looked bad at first.

Looks good to me. I bet Ankerson and knifenut1013 have Militaries that are worn down far more than yours is, just from use, testing, and resharpening.

I'd keep the BG 42. As some others have, I've sharped knives down way past your repair. Good job on that by the way.

That BG-42 blade still has a lot of life left in it!

And if you really want to swap the blades, treat it more like a scale swap, swap the scales from one onto the other, everything else remains common to the blade.

Thanks for the input guys. I've gotten over the initial kicking myself and am realizing just how much I like the BG42 steel. In some ways it reminds me of Swamp Rat's sr101 in that it seems to take a really fine edge very easily.
