Ya just gotta laugh sometimes.

"As pictured here is a Buck lockback folding pocket knife. The large blade is marked "Buck 110." The handle is beautiful and not cracked and in good condition, The blade has some light scratches but does not snap closed. The blade tip is broken off. Knife measures 5” closed. This is a beautiful knife that would look nice in a collection. "

That looks like the knife I threw in the garbage last week.

"There's a sucker born every minute."

I'm thinking that the seller broke off the tip of his 110 by trying to pry the lid off of a small can of last year's varnish, and he believes that Buck wouldn't fix it, so, he's trying to sell it on Ebay in order to purchase a new one.

At least he isn't trying to sell it as the rare, one-of-a-kind Buck 110 with the screwdriver tip.... ;)

It is a custom practice blade with a blunt tip, very rare, used by Police tactical units almost exclusively. This just makes me feel safer.

You'll never know if you don't ask... ;)

...???...Exactly what is -custom- about this knife???

Looks like a run-of-the-mill Wal-Mart 110 from the pics...

OK, Guess you got me. I'm not a knife person and used someone elses ad where they called it a custom. Maybe it's Walmart but it's a Buck. Thanks for pointing this out.

That's the question and answer posted on the auction, when I first looked, as well...

It's good that Trax knows Ebay, and that if there isn't a Q&A already there, his would appear directly on the actual auction... :D

George - that is my question! I'm FrogBait4 on eBay; chickentrax here; Rich B. some other places... :D I have 4 pages of Usernames and passwords...but it seems every time I sign up for a Forum/Site, the name "Rich B." is already taken...So I have to come up with *something*...

Anyway, I didn't think the guy would actually *post* that answer. Why not just put up a sign saying "I'm a jerk!!! Don't buy this!!!"... :p  :D

Well, Rich B., you done good!

You did your best to either get the seller to "fess-up" that his Buck 110 knife was as 'custom' as mass produced can be, and, though it surprised me, too, he at least admitted to it, and left your question on the auction!

However, because he says that he doesn't know too much about knives, if the bidding doesn't go too high, it might be worth buying. Not so much knocked off of that tip to sharpen a new point into it, if not to replace the blade. Might be a rare one...unless it's got like a "T" (2003) stamp. Notice that you cannot see the date stamp, in the too-small photos....

I'm thinking/hoping that he might actually be trying to be more honest. I don't know Ebay that well, and how it works, like how much of the auction web page he can change, after an error has been pointed-out. Maybe his only available "mea culpa" (way to admit his error) was to leave your e-mailed question there...?

You can add additional data, as well as post Q&A's. I guess he's basically OK, just a n00b, like the rest of us! :D

Looks like there's enough blade left to do a "GeoThorn Drop-Point 110"!!! ;)

That's a tempting suggestion, to get a maybe relatively cheap Buck 110 and reground a new point onto it, attempting to do it for the first time, it could be a valuable learning lesson.

However, in these days of identity theft, I only buy knives from stores that I can drive to, from someone I can talk to face-to-face, and when I can pay cash for items. No Ebay beauties for me. I'd prefer not to ever use my credit card to purchase anything, if I could help it.

I felt it was a fair question...It *might* have had a BG-42 blade...broken or not, it would still be worth something... :)

Auction ended; one bidder; $9.99 + $4.50 S&H...I guess it's a fair price, compared to the Xmas Wal-Mart 110's... :)

Hmmmm...He also has a 25th Anniversary 110...with a broken tip...WTF???...

Is this guy going thru Buck's garbage??? (oops...sorry, dave!)

 ...This one's not a "Custom" but it's blade is virtually "mint" as the seller describes:
This is a 1988 BUCK 112 Ranger. It is in good condition. This Knife walks and talks. Blade is very tight and looks to be mint. Wood handles are excellent no chips scratches or dents.

I'm not really sure I want to buy it to see if it's just positioned funny for the picture...LOL...:D :D
