Thank you all very much for your kind words, glad you like it
For those that are interested in the nitty gritty, a problem that arose with this knife is a blade that didn't align nicely with the handle, it's common enough problem when messing around with slipjoints.
The blade opened too far, not a huge problem but the back of the blade was inline with the back of the handle so no room for wear & tear later on.
With a slipjoint the tiniest variation between blade tang cut out & spring end will have a big effect on the blade angle when open. Seeing as this spring & blade are already made the way to deal with "lowering" the blade is to bring the pivot backwards, this was achieved by using a slightly bigger blade pivot (rivet) & filing the blade hole forward towards the tip to bring the blade back & filing the bolster holes backwards, these combine to move the blade back a fraction & lower it when open.
You should do something with the marlinspike, too. Maybe it would be useful on a keychain?
Mmmm..... Nice idea, shall have to have a think about what to do with that.
You could use the tang stamp from the can opener as a shield.....
Good idea, maybe next time
Yes it can be opened with a pinch which is good seeing as it's a left hand nick. The springs on these particular clasp knives have a reputation for being nearly impossible to open with a nail they are so strong, this has been reduced considerably through thinning of the spring & pin placement so it's about a 6 now.
I like how you aged the covers to go with the rest of the knife. What species of wood did you use?
Embarrassed to say I'm not sure what wood it is, it's a "that'll come in handy" offcut I picked up somewhere. Aged with a wire brush, black tint, wire wool & oil
It looks to have broken in a similar place, you've probably read the reasons I listed in my post, it just isn't a great shape & my remaining spring even had a deep mark that would have probably seen it break at some time if it was used.
Let me know if you fancy moving it on

I'd like to do another but slightly different.
Thanks again everyone
