I am getting all my gear ready for a lovely weekend of Gov't funded Survival training up in the mountains.

As I checked the last of my gear, I fondly caressed my Heavy Heart Fusion Steel Heart, when suddenly, my whole world has gone spinning wrong. The tip, the last millimeter or so, is gone, broken.

Here's a pic..

I am upset right now. It was fine last weekend, but Sunday saw some hard use when my SAR team went out on 3 missions in a day (I was on 2 of them). Bush wacking and some batoning firewood is all it was used for...

Just wanted a shoulder to cry on.

A shoulder to cry on ???

Get your whiney --- to work.

Just be glad "ducci" didn't get ahold of it.

And enjoy your spot on Bravado's ignore list.

Just kidding.

Hope you have fun getting paid to learn new stuff that interests you. If the tip bothers you that much I bet you could get the shop to regrind it and no one would ever be able to tell the difference, or you could call it "character" and savor it.

Get paid?! HA! We wish! We are volunteers and the gear we use comes out of our own pockets. Which is why we buy the best. I've looked for a paid search and rescue team. As far as I can tell they don't exsist. If somebody konws of one please share.

My bad, I guess the only payment that you get is the satifaction of saving others from their own errors, and doing a job that few are willing and able to perform.

Bravado's ignore list, that's what I tell everyone that posts pics of used Busse's. If I am the only one that understands it then so be it.

No harm done. It is a common misconception that we get paid for what we do. The general populace assumes we get paid like just like to other EMS agencies such as fireman and paramedics. Search and Rescue teams are mainly non-pofit outfits that are manned by volunteers and funded by donations.
Your right. Our payment is knowing that we are doing a difficult job and are saving lives. We do enjoy what we do and most of us would rather spend a dificult day in the woods than a fabulous day at work. I have been at this for several years now but it was only just November that I had my first rescue of a living soul. It was like nothing I have ever experinced and hard to discribe. It's missions where we save a life that makes all the blood, sweat and tears worth it.

Wow, a tiny little piece of tip broke.;)

you know I have never had that happen, but I must not use my knives as hard as you I mean with you chopping would and all. :D

That bad boy is just begging for a Bill Siegle re-profile, no?

No, I got the joke. ;) When did that start? Who decided to start giving him a hard time for not using his blades?

You should be able to get that touched up pretty easy if you know someone that is good on a grinder.

Man in my Knife club sets up at a local flea market every week to sell some knives and fix's a few broke tips a week at $2.00 each. And he is good, seen an inch broke off and he will have it lookin good in a minute.

Find someone like this(that knows what he's doing) in your area to fix it. If you send it in you won't see it for a while.

Fret not my friend, for your tip is not lost, it just didn't want to come home from the wilderness as soon as you did!!!. . .

A full side shot of the entire knife would help give the right perspective as to how small of a portion of the tip is actually gone. These blown up shots always make the damage look HUGE when in fact most guys might not notice it. . . . It would also save us countless hours of having to answer 8,000 emails as to why there was such a catastrophic failure to the tip when in reality, it has just lost the very needle point of the tip.

Send it in and we'll make her scream!!!!. . . .

Jerry :D

The best warranty in the world! What other Boss would reach out like that? Way to step up Sir, a humble pork rind in waiting :-)
