Broken Liner lock on my Damascus Custom knife..

I was told that brass does not make for good liner lock. I believe him (Cicatriz). Can anyone tell me if they know of someone/vendor that can repair my knife ? If so, the knife will be in the mail first thing tomorrow morning. I live in Alexandria, VA and have searched locally but with no success. Your help is greatly appreciated !

just out of curiosity.. where did you buy this from and what did you pay? Like did you buy it direct or from a person a auction site a actual knife retailer? That could help.

I bought it for $60 from an individual that said, they bought it at a gun show. He said, he was told it was a Damascus knife. I looked at the "Damascus kinfe" web site, and there is a website for these types of knifes but they do not repair them ! I also bought a "Smith and Wesson auto, 3 1/2 inch" from the same guy. Even though I only paid $60, I am willing to pay handsomely to get it fixed.

Would you ever consider buying a new damascus knife from a more well known brand that has a warranty?

Kershaw has a amazing warranty. If you would ever consider buying a new knife.

I will look at Kershaw as NewGuy recommended.

There a great company, If they have any sort of defect all you have to do is pay shipping and they will fix it for nothing. If your screw strips, pocket clip breaks, torsion bar breaks saftey breaks then they will mail you out the parts for free. They will sharpen your knife for free all you have to do is pay shipping. They have a lifetime warranty the only thing it doesnt cover is just gross abuse of the knife.
Kershawguy.com is owned by a forum member here and is a great guy. Knifecenter is a paid seller here and also a great site to buy from.

Other brands that have some okay damascus knives is boker and mcusta. Not sure what your looking to spend though.

I am looking at websites that have been recommended for purchasing a new knife. I am totally new to knives but decided Jethro Gibbs(NCIS) rule #9... don't go anywhere without a knife. Any recommendations for 4 inch blade that I can flip open with my thumb ?

I also live in Alexandria. Your knife looks Pakistani, which are known for poor quality. Please stay on the forum and read about different knives. It will enrich you, and save you money in the long-run.

I collect damascus knives. Search Youtube for "Damascus EDC Knives" and watch my video. As well as other damascus knife vids. it will help you choose wisely. Best of luck.

What's your price range and do you want it to be Damascus or will any steel do?

I am open on the price range but again, I am new to the knife world. Cicatriz gave me some awesome knife websites but I do not think i am ready to pay a couple of thousand on a knife just yet. Locutus D'Borg also gave me some good advice.

Mr. D' Borg can you recommend a knife shop here in town so I can handle the knives I may be interested in ?

Thanks so much to everyone. I am very surprised with all the feedback I received.

you don't need to spend anywhere close to a thousand for a quality knife. you can spend under 100 and get a knife that is way better than the one you broke, though.

This is a shop in Frederick, MD that has a great website and store (which I am planning on visiting). See below. I am a disabled vet, and don't get around much, but there is also a store in Alexandria that is run by a forum member. I think it is called Tactical something, maybe you can search on it. It is in Hybla Valley on Route 1 South.

This area is not good for knife nuts, so I do all my buying on the internet (dealers like TNK, GP Knives, Only Fine Knives, Knifeart.com, bladeHQ, etc.). My first good knife was a Benchmade mini-Barrage. Then I got addicted. Go to my Youtube channel and watch some of my videos (the early ones are pretty rough), and watch some of the other EDC knife videos. You will get a really good idea of what is out there.

PS: EDC is everyday carry, which is what most on Youtube call their knives. So search on EDC knives and watch reviews of Kershaw, Benchmade, Spyderco, and the more expensive (and high quality) Strider, Hinderer, and Chris Reeve.

Ha Ha! I sent you a couple sites to drool over ... Like Ariels website...
Looking at a local shop so you can handle things and find out what you like is a very good idea.

I also recommend looking through the trading and selling section here on Blade Forums.
Some of the makers here are excellent at what they do and offer a fair price.

Big knives, well the size your asking anyway.. There is for 50$ the spyderco resilience. there is 150$ for the zt 0200 benchmade 710 and spyderco military. and 180 for the benchmade 810. at right around 200$ you can get a emerson cqc 8. 260 you can get a zt 0560 or 0300. For 400 you can geta chris reeve sebenza for about 450 you can get a umnumzan. 475 you can get a strider smf. 225 you can get a fox delta.

I think everyone here would all agree those are all great blades for what they cost.

You sent him to look at Ariel Salaverria's site? :D
That is some fine damascus!

Looking at the Exchange forums, especially the individual sales, is a great way to see nice prices on popular knives. Yes they are used, but that also means broken in, tweaked, sometimes embellished. Personally, I buy more off our forums than off the dealers' websites.

We have many knifemakers here who do their own damascus, better than anything that came out of Pakistan. Some of them even post WIP (Works in Progress) where you can see how they do it.

If you want a nice Damascus knife of high quality, you could consider the Spyderco Endura 4, special edition... price is about $230. There are definitely other quality damascene knives that are cheaper, though.
