Broken rivet...

You could send it back to Busse and they will fix it.

Can they put those cool smooth bolts in it?

First off thanks for all the help guys and girls... I really appreciate it. I use the FFBM inside to split wood since it's wayyyy too cold to go outside... As for the Master Blaster... i have no idea what your talking about.. im 22 years old..

And no it's definately not normal :) Normally the rivets don't pop until you beat the knife with a sledgehammer repeatedly. Either way they're still covered under the warranty, so toss it back to ohio for a fixerup.

I can certainly confirm this.

While I'm not in the class of some of you maniacs, it took a LOT of beating before I broke a rivet on one of mine. :)

Just had to know.

Hey bro, make sure you hang onto your receipt when you ship it. When it comes back customs might charge you taxes again and you'll need the receipt to get that money back.

Yea, I got charged taxes on the insured value as it came across the border a second time, be prepared for that or get a proper tube rivet and do it yourself. Lots of guys on this forum have put "how to's" on here before. I suck at searching the forum so maybe someone else could find it.:o

Food for thought. I live in Canada and sent my Busse to the USA as a template to have a custom sheath made. I anticipated that Canadian Customs might try to charge me import fees FOR THE SECOND TIME when the sheath and knife were sent back to me. I enclosed a letter explaining all the circumstances and for the sheath maker to enclose in the parcel for information to Canadian Customs. Nonetheless, Customs insisted that I pay for the knife a second time upon receipt but I had enough proof to fill out a form and eventually receive a refund for the knife portion of the shipment.

It's not just there - UK customs are just as nasty if not nastier. Now they are even confiscating Axis-lock folders claiming that they are a form of gravity knife! We can challenge them but it will cost at least £1500 when we lose.

My wife ordered a glass ornament. It got stung for import tax etc even though it was clearly broken. We then got charged again for its replacement. Customs were not interested in our complaints.

Thieves!

Tell me about it! I traded my Military FBM for a NMFBM just recently. Even though the retail value is only about $450 we both insured it for replacement values of $600USD, so factoring in the exchange they charged me about $90 in taxes.

I sent in the paper work and a letter so hopefully I'll get a check in the mail in the near future. You shouldnt have to pay taxes on--for all intents and purposes--an exchange, let alone repairs.

pics added.. does anyone have this knive but polished? im thinking of getting this done or possibly doing it myself.. not sure which yet.. does it actually make cutting easier due to less blade resistance?

I find satin blades do slide through the target a little better. As a result, I have taken a bit of a preference to them. :)

Looks like the rivet put up a good fight. Sure is good to see that the FFBM has a good home and is getting lots of love! :D

Ya know if you didn't want to send it in you could always replace it yourself with a drill and an order from McMaster Carr...
