Broken Strider Sng (My fault)

My apologies if this is in the wrong section.

So I got my first Strider a few weeks ago and really like the knife. Unfortunately, a few days ago I was working on a roof and had my knife out. To make a long story short, I slipped and dropped the knife onto the concrete below. The knife was closed, but it fell on the G10 side and messed up the head end so that the knife will barely open or close. I understand this is not part of the warranty and is my fault, but I wondering if I am able to send it in for repair or to get the G10 replaced if I pay for whatever needs done? I'm really aggravated at myself for letting this happen, and I hope I haven't just lost $400 down the drain so to speak.

I've searched for the protocol on how to send stuff in to Strider, but haven't been able to come up with much. Any advice on what to do in this situation is much appreciated. Thanks

If it is broken, send it to Strider and they will fix it- no questions asked. BUT be sure to send it via Fed-Ex or UPS *NOT USPS*. Their site is being re-done ATM but they used to have all that info posted. Anyway, send it to them with a note and they will get you squared away. Could you post any pictures of it?

I'm a little ashamed to say I don't have a camera to post pics yet. I need to get one in the near future. Thanks guys

how far did it fall?i thought these knives were tough enough to where that should have only caused cosmetic damage.or am i missing/not getting something?

Wow must have fallen at a really bad angle. I can't really imagine a quality knife breaking like that. Sorry for what happened. Should probably give em a call and see what they can do for you.

Striders Warranty is the best in the biz. As long as your knife is not modified in any way they will fix it up and return it to you in perfect working order.
Some tips when sending the knife in to Strider is only use UPS or FED EX. They have had problems with USPS in the past. Include a note with the problem and what
you want done and also $15 for return shipping.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. The Strider guys will fix it up for you if you send it in. It may cost you a little but they will help you out. In the future may I suggest a lanyard for around your wrist when working at heights. An ounce of prevention blah, blah, blah...

I don't have any knives that expensive, but when I go out to work in the yard - I grab a Minigrip. I save my more expensive knives and fancier knives for my pocket, and lighter stuff like opening packages, tape, etc. The grip is easy to open and close with one hand and will do most of what I want it to do. I also stay off the roof, but that is another story.

It fell about 30 feet and must have landed on an edge or corner. It's not cracked or anything, but the g10 is messed up enough that it is very tight and will barely open with two hands. But nothing is actually broken in half or anything. I appreciate the tips on sending via UPS or fedex, which I will do. I contacted Josh and he was very helpful.

I usually do use a cheaper knife for stuff like this, but I wanted to really try out htis knife to see if it stands up to hard use, and it did, but it didn't stand up to my stupidity lol. Oh well, I'll learn for the next time. If Strider fixes me up, I'll have to consider them one of the best in terms of customer service and repair, but if they don't I won't be upset, I know this one is all on me and I don't expect a knife to take literally anything. Thanks again guys, this is a great forum for expert knife advice!

Make sure you add $15 for return shipping. I have used Strider customer service twice now and the turn around time and work they did was quick (about 2 weeks from the day I shipped to the day it came back but I am a short 3 days away via UPS) and perfectly done. Strider stands behind their knives big time from my personal experience. I'm 100% satisfied with SKI service.

That strider sure sounds like a really robust hard-use design.

Hope you can get it fixed without too much hassle, man.

It is robust in the sense that it will work in most any situation.... But it is NOT robust in the sense that it stays perfectly fit over (even short) periods of time. I got rid of mine, but I will get more in the future with the new lockup.

Update:

Sent my knife in and I got it back yesterday. It looks basically brand new! They replaced the G-10 completely. Major props to Strider for their customer service!

Forgot to mention, it only took a few weeks to get the knife back so I was happy with that as well.
