Bronze decorative work?

I'm thinking of ordering some bronze, either in 3/8 or 1/16, since I still can't figure out which would better fit my next project.

Anyways, I was wondering if any decorative work can be done with limited tools and experience, to spice up the knife a bit.
Any input is appreciated, anything I can do to bronze to enhance the "wow" factor would be great to learn about.

Thanks.

You can always do file work which is the first thing to come to mind.

Bronze can be textured by various means to give it different rough looks that can fit nicely with the proper knife.

I could try to do some file work, although I've never done it before, so I don't know exactly how to approach it.

But, thank you.

if you are making a "rustic" piece... try peening it with a small ballpeen hammer then "age" it with something like brass black. then just lightly sand the high points and it will give it a great look... like the bowie from the movie unforgiven.

How about some details on your project. I use bronze, it files nicely and cuts easily. Texture/pein it cold, but too much can crack it. Are you doing guards/pommels? Bolsters? Overlay or shields? Entire scales? Inlay?

I'm planning on doing either a bolster, or a small disk of bronze to cap both ends of the knife (Not sure what it would be called).
I'm using the "small disk" bronze for a puukko, and the larger bronze for a bolster for a hunter I'm making.

You can texture, then patina then polish to have the deeper parts darker and the higher parts shiny.
