Bronze Fittings?

Does anyone know where I can buy Phosphor Bronze flat stock to use for fittings without having to buy a huge minimum order?

I thought McMaster Carr had some but I guess not. Al they have is Aluminum bronze in rectangular bar stock.

Speedy also has only the aluminum bronze in rectangular bar stock. I was hoping
for phosphor because I wanted the reddish color without the softness and quick
tarnish of brass. I normally use nickle silver or stainless fittings, but this piece needs
the colour in the fittings for the right look.

Do you have any idea what the aluminum bronze looks like finished?

Here is one I did a few years ago. Aluminum bronze fittings. It does not tarnish at all, at least not in 4 years... Silicon bronze does tarnish but not too bad.

That is a beautiful piece, but it's hard to tell the colour of the fittings. It looks like
sort of yellowish gold. Is that right right, or is there a reddish tint I can't see in the
picture?

it is a yellow gold. No red in alum bronze. Not too much in silicon bronze either. Si Bronze does have a warmer tone to it though.

This one has Si Bronze fittings, It is hard to see the true color though due to red background.

I appreciate everyones help. Chuck, I tried MSC on the phosphor bronze. They do
have it a quarter inch thick, but the only size I could find was 12" x 96". A foot wide
by eight feet long. I couldn't use that much in twenty years. How did you get the
foot square piece? Did you have it custom cut?

I have a bronze cage ring that I can send you out a large bearing. It's oddly shaped, but the cross sections are large enough to make stock removal guards out of. If you're going to forge them, it will be even better. Email me at scottickesknives@comcast.net if you're interested. I'll take some photos and email them back to you when I get the chance.

Chuck, that's bearing bronze, but it's in the right size size, and should be a little
darker than the aluminum bronze. Thanks for the tip. Scott. Thank you for the generous offer, but I think I'll try the bearing bronze flat stock, it's not going to be forged.

Lots of information on brasses and bronzes in the first link. Metal Reference links (2 & 4) have good color replications. Anchor Bronze is a good outfit (there are others, too). I always have better luck getting small quantities calling instead of e-mailing.

C90300 is naval bronze ~ "Naval G". C52100 is very similar in color. C90700 is close to 90300 for color... red but not as red.

Scagel used naval bronze and naval brass (C46400). Neither of them finishes easily.
