Thought I would take a look at this Brous Blades Mini Division. Pretty nice knife. We will give a go as a daily carry and see how it works out.

Nice knife!!! I had a Brous VR 71 that I carried for a little while. They seem to be decent knives, the Brous brand doesn’t seem to be highly favored by many BF members though.

I believe the reason is many of their designs are too tacticool... very complex grinds & edges make sharpening a nightmare.
The one you got seems to be a big improvement over some of their other models like:

Had the same thought about most not being into them. So far I am pleased with it. We will see what happens over time.

As D dirc noted one of the reasons is his history of silly tacticool knives going back to his Kut Throat Kutlery (or maybe Cut Throat Cutlery) days, another was his dismissal of some industry heavy hitters' advice when he was starting out, another was his less than straightforward claims about the heat treatment of his knives early on (that Paul Bos had treated them, even though he didn't treat the metal Brous used).

Many have been around for a while and have long memories.

But he has seemed to find success.

I think the Silent Soldier was the first and last good design Jason Brous had. It was a real great one, though. Stock was a little thick, IMHO.

You can say that again. Love the Silent Soldier, particularly the ranger. Of the many kniges that are a take off of the Perrin La Griffe the Silent Soldier Ranger is my absolute favourite.

I've not heard a lot good stuff about Brous. Hasn't been super clear about where his domestically manufactured products are actually manufactured. Could just be drama, but still gives me pause.

Looks like a nice knife with the exception of the sharpening choil not going past the plunge grind. I’ve never seen a Brous knife where they got that quite right.

I've had two Emerson La Griffes and not had a Silent Soldier yet. I really want a wharncliffe La Griffe in a better steel than 154CM at Emerson's butter knife RC.

All of this and also the design-theft stuff, like this folder he released that seemed to be a direct copy of one of a Polish knifemaker's fixed blade models

. . . add it all together and you might get a kind of distasteful overall impression of the man and his business.

I’m glad I found this thread...I own 2 Brous knives: a Mini-Division CF and a T4 CF. I’ve long wondered why they aren’t more popular. Both knives are well made and, in my opinion, look great. Plus, their customer service is great.

The only criticisms I have are: 1) the action isn’t the smoothest and both of mine required some breaking in/oil in order to open completely without requiring a flip of the wrist and 2) while relatively light, both knives are quite wide, making EDC somewhat difficult.

I tried to attach a pic of them side by side with a Tyrade to show the width, but apparently the file is too large. I’m working on finding an app to compress and if successful, I’ll post the comparison.

To me, when there are so many makers/manufacturers who don't "give one pause," then why bother with one who does?

Try the Perrins. Their 440c and 12c27 is fine for the type of tasks you’ll use these for. Although today there are many knives like the perrin today that use a good steel.

Plus he got caught recieving shipments from china to which he replied, “I order screws from china.”

Yeah the division is a rip of the Poltergeist Haunter. Poltergeist has sice made a folding haunter.

Plus he F’ed over Isham. Took his design they collabed on and paid him nothing.

Written text leaves a lot open to interpretation, so I think I understand what you're saying. I'll just add that I don't bother with Brous Blades. I don't own a single one. However, I'm just making conversation on a public forum. But I do agree with you. There are a TON who do not give me pause. And they will get my business.

Bought a Mini-Division before I knew anything about him. Luckily, I don’t like the knife at all. It’s clunky, has mediocre action, and is never carried. If I ever sold knives, it would be long gone.

Just say no to brous. If you do a search youll see some pretty eye opening thing's about this guy. Some of which hqve shown up above. And there's more too.

I realize you are just making conversation, and I said nothing against you. At least I didnt think I did,

I just said exactly what you are saying...no point buying from someone who gives one pause. Lotta fish in the sea!
