Brous Blades

Lol at new brous models

All of this and also the design-theft stuff, like this folder he released that seemed to be a direct copy of one of a Polish knifemaker's fixed blade models

. . . add it all together and you might get a kind of distasteful overall impression of the man and his business.

Interestingly enough, i recently stumbled upon this Russian knife which looks familiar (i cannot possibly know who did the 'deed' here so it's just another bit of info out there. If a pattern occurs then definitely something is wrong):

I’m glad I found this thread...I own 2 Brous knives: a Mini-Division CF and a T4 CF. I’ve long wondered why they aren’t more popular. Both knives are well made and, in my opinion, look great. Plus, their customer service is great.

The only criticisms I have are: 1) the action isn’t the smoothest and both of mine required some breaking in/oil in order to open completely without requiring a flip of the wrist and 2) while relatively light, both knives are quite wide, making EDC somewhat difficult.

I tried to attach a pic of them side by side with a Tyrade to show the width, but apparently the file is too large. I’m working on finding an app to compress and if successful, I’ll post the comparison.

I am not familiar with Brous' manufacturing procedure and the costs associated with it, but i do find their prices really steep (having handled two different versions of the Mini Division and also the Specter, which is a relatively simple design with D2 steel that sells for 180-190 USD). So maybe this along with some polarizing designs that some may not be as practical for EDC, attribute to the limited popularity.

Fit & finish i believe it's quite good, personally though, i wasn't 320USD (or whatever the value is) worth of overwhelmed with the Mini Division Acidwashed/CF. All three Brous knives i own came with poor action, as you said.

I did satisfy my curiosity and now i will be passing all of them on.

I have a larger size Brous Blades T4 D2, Bright Orange Aluminum handle in my collection. I wouldn't replace my Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1 EDC with it, but to me it is a smooth, well made flipper with a great D2 blade and not a huge cost. I can't speak to other Brous knife models but I'm pleased with the T4 I bought. It reminds me of a Kizer that I own. I really like the D2 blade which is why I bought it.

Brous Blades can be dime-store crap or relatively nice knives from my experience...this is all from 2016 and prior. Definitely overpriced for what they deliver though.
