Brous Blades

but if you KNOW that the import versions are just cheap copies of better made American versions of the same knife, what's the harm?

I never had any of the import ones, but their "USA made" ones didn't impress me, and there was no shortage of reviews stating that the action and fit and finish on the imports was better. Plus there were always whispers/insinuations/rumors that they were overseas made, or just assembled in the USA from overseas made parts. Many people saw the Import line, entirely populated by the same designs that were already in their lineup, as them just giving up and admitting where the rest of their knives were made.

Thanks for the replies. Part of the reason that I'm curious is that I met him at the Blade show about 4 or 5 years ago and found him to be a very nice guy.
I did find it interesting that he started making imported versions of his own designs and I was glad to buy the $50 version of the Silent Soldier as the original version was way out of my budget.

I just picked up one a couple weeks ago, its been fine so far.

Isn't this just a Proelia? Link

If I was trying to pass my knives off as American, you were saying "Hey, man, I like your design!"... I would absolutely be nice to you. Why wouldn't I be? What am I going to do, say, "Uh, yeah, whatever man, that's cool"? Especially at a show, where if I leave any impression on you as a knife guy, you're more likely to talk about it? "I met Jason Bro of Bro Knives and he was XYZ", he chooses the XYZ and if I were him, no matter whether I thought I was doing something wrong or not, if I was trying to rip people off or not, I'll do the simple, easy, and smart thing and say "Hey, thank you so much! I absolutely appreciate it! You know what, let me give you five dollars off of this one, friend, God bless you and your family". So the next time you're posting about Bro blades online, you'll say something nice.

Ierno, to me it's just that "nice" in the face of dishonesty really loses its value. I am sorry to sound cynical and I genuinely do respect kindness from people, but in the face of his actions, it seems like dishonesty.

A couple Brous designs are sold under the ETE (Edge Technologies Engineering) brand, which seems to be Timberline, re-branded.

That's interesting, the last I saw Case had purchased Timberline, I wonder who's behind ETE.

I vaguely remember Jason was called out here when he tried to shill... that was just the start of Brous Blades maybe... or he did not have a name back then. I never really caught on his mall-ninja designs... Hope he is doing okay.

It's mentioned in the company's bio that Jason got a lot of sh*t when we first got started and tried to promote what is called a "biomechanical" design on the Net but he obviously moved on from that.

I really don't have a "dog" in this fight but I really have a hard time understanding the "hate" that seems to be directed towords Brous Blades. Just seems like there are other knife makers (like Strider or even Hinderer) that are more deserving of that.

In my case, I really don't give a sh*t what a knifemaker has done or has been alleged to have done (or where a knife is made, for that matter). All I really care about the quality of the knife(s) he makes and, in my case, I'm very happy w/the Brous Blade knives that I have purchased.

Don't think they've gone anywhere. I follow Brous on instagram. Posted 3 days ago about bringing back the Bionic.

If they bring back the Bionic, this time they should make the blade sharper than the flipper tab. Oh and the handle longer than the blade.

And maybe handles in something other than aluminum (always a personal dislike of mine)

I agree... different folks, different strokes. Given the popularity, I am sure his knives appeal to many. I am actually glad we have a choice! :)

I love Brous Blades and, no, I don't wear Oakleys to bed or have nuts on my truck.

My EDC is a Silent Soldier V2 and it's great. Easy to handle, holds an edge beautifully and stands up to everything I put it through. The kydex sheath still holds it perfectly secure to my belt.

My issue with Brous at the moment is that their neck knives are just not available. I've communicated back and forth about the new Silent Enforcer but have been told that there was something wrong with the equipment used to produce it so, now, this production is now unavailable.

I'm looking for Silent Soldier V2, Silent Enforcer, or any hook bill variations of the fixed blades if anyone wants to part with them.

I still wear my Juliet X metal Oakleys, and I drive a Ford truck with big nuts....what can I say!

I really liked the original made in the USA Brous Division & SS Ti flippers I owned, and I regret selling them. The Division was a really nice super smooth flipper. About 10 years ago, as I was passing through Buellton heading up the 101 on my way up to Monterey, I stopped by and met Jason in person at his shop. He was a super nice and very personable guy.

As for his decision to outsource his knives/brand over to China; that's when I decided I was done, and ceased supporting his business. Not getting political, but I'm a proud American Patriot/Veteran and I try my absolute best to make a concerted effort to only support companies/businesses whose knives for the most part are made here in the good ole USA.

I at least have to give kudos to Jason for being upfront in regards to his business' change in direction, and he wasn't deceitful, unlike that low life Hoback sleaze ball.

V I really like that design, N!
I have one and I like it.View attachment 2065406

I hadn’t heard that Brous Blades was doing the Amy Schumer bit too. :(

Which design(s) got copied?

he still selling his USA one off customs on his website, I really enjoy his fixed blades T5 nice affordable lightweight fighting knife. Most that don’t like him can’t afford him, so they trash on him. Globalist politicans & bankers responsible for movement to China…votes matter.
