Hey there! Anyone have any experience with Brous blades? I'm thinking of a Silent Soldier Flipper.

I don't have any of the various Silent Soldiers, so I can't speak specifically about them, but I do have a Caliber and two Mini Divisions, one in G10 and another in CF. I'll definitely be buying more Brous' at some point. I want a VR-71 in the worst way, but they're right-hand only.

The G10 Mini Division I have is pretty much perfection in every way. The CF one has some flaws that I wouldn't have accepted had I bought it new. The issues are purely cosmetic, things like the jimping not lining up perfectly between the scales and liners. Functionally it's perfect though and it's one of my favorite blades to carry and use. Since I bought it used I was a little less picky about the cosmetics. The G10 version, which was actually the first Brous I bought, is LNIB, so it's staying that way as a back-up to the CF one.

The Caliber comes close to perfect in the F&F department. It's also perfect functionally. It's a bit smaller than my usual EDC's, so it only gets carried when I need to carry something small. I wouldn't call it a gentleman's knife though since the heavy detent means there's no way to open it slowly. The swedge makes it almost impossible to open two handed. As far as small flippers go it's excellent; just realize that flipping it hard is the only way to open it.

If I understand correctly, the CF Mini-Division was manufactured the earliest of the three, so possibly Brous' fit and finish has improved since his earlier knives. That's purely supposition on my part though. Overall, I think the G10 MD and Caliber are worth the going rate. You can get a Caliber for $330 new if you look around. I would have been disappointed in the CF MD if I'd paid new price for it.

They come up with some frequency on the exchange and some good deals can be had.

I just picked up silent soldier g10. Had it about 3 weeks.
My first brous blade this thing is better than I expected.
Top notch quality strong detent push button action this thing flys open and I love the sound when it locks open.
I can't put this thing down I think I flipped it open at least 1 thousand times.

I agree with kahuna.....i have the g10 liner lock and ive never had a knife lock up more solid or flip so nice. It is a tank and i came across this thread when searching for more brous knives. It is one of those knives that is worth every penny. Buy it!

I have one of the 2nd generation silent soldiers with carbon fiber scales in satin and like it a lot. I have since picked up the Division and Strife. Both in carbon fiber with the black acid wash blades. Very well done. The Silent Soldier is just plain wicked. I think that you would like it a lot. It would scare the hell out of folks, but that's part of the fun.

i have one of the new gen ssf flippers. Probably my second smoothest flipper behind my zt 0808, that thing fires right out

I have a Reloader with a satin finished blade and it's perfect.
The action is great and so is the overall fit and finish.
I would buy another Brous knife without hesitation.

Does anyone else silent soldier make kinda like a grinding sound when gliding it back in mine just started this today and don't know if it's supposed to do that it doesn't do it if I close it slowly but if I close it fast it makes a weird grinding noise???

I also have the V3 silent soldier. I love mine, super smooth and flipping it is addicting.... I opened and closed it so much that my fingers were hurting by the end of the day. lol
I also have a T4 that I love. Its a huge blade but insanely smooth.

@Bwallis52 mine Silent Soldier doesn't make any sort of grinding noise, however I did drop it the other day and I think a bit of sand got in the bearings but I blew it out pretty good and then added a drop of oil and now its quiet and smooth again.
