Brownells 44/40 Instant gun Blue

Has anyone used the Brownells 44/40 Instant Gun Blue? If so what did you think? Any pics? ;) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
 
Gives an instant good deep black on well cleaned steel, but doesn't hold up as well as Brownells Oxpho-blue. None of the cold blues hold up under use, but Oxpho-blue is one of the best.

Would it work well enough just for storing?
 
I've used 44-40 on many things besides guns, chisles and knives particularly. I've always been satisfied with it for a cold blue.
 
Yes. I have used for various things for almost 40 years. It doesn't protect anything, it just colors it.
 
I have had good results with Oxpho-Blue. My best results were on stuff that was given a fine bead blast finish, I then applied the Oxpho and when I got the desired color I followed by applying oil that was heated a bit. I rubbed the heated oil really well and then wiped off the excess.
Here is a pic of a 1911 rebuild that I did using this method.
