The Very First Swing, I reached down to remove the axe from the wood, The head stayed in place while the handle came up. At that point it felt like a garden hose. I immediately stopped and stared at it, and the separation beginning at the head, then started laughing hysterically. I took out my phone and took this pic. knocked the head out with a piece of wood and put it back in its package for return tomorrow.
I liked the head shape, but no way is it worth keeping. This happened today at 5:15pm central, 65-70 degrees. I still feel a little creeped out. My cat was even staring at me with these big crazy eyes. We still aint said a word about it.

WOW! I was just looking at this axe in the Browning catalog a few minutes ago, and thought about getting one! Thanks for sharing this experience - It saved me some $$$

WOW--did they even field test those before jumping into production?

So did it spring back or just stay like that???

Also, your cat sounds creepy...but, that's just cats for ya.

Cats seem to have an inherent appreciation for sharp things. One of mine is as crazy about machetes as I am. He's constantly ruining photos because he'll plop down next to them protectively. :p

Alien cats and gumby axes. Oh the insanity. Make it stop.

I ashamed to say it, I have a "gumby" axe as well. It is still sitting in the corner were it was deposited soon after receiving it. I have contemplated rehanging it.

I just couldn't bring myself to swing something that feels like a limp noodle and that I could bend on the cross section more than 4".

LOL!!! That's pretty funny..

Well drill that handle out and hang a proper wood one on that head and then let us know how it works.

Cats are creepy...not a fan. Sorry. Send that thing back! What's up with manufacturers of great firearms branching out and creating crappy edged tools???? (i.e. smith and wesson) Although, I've heard the glock knives are pretty decent.

The axe went back today, UPS guy picked it up. The handle sprung back to straight after each bending. I did more testing and I could put my foot a few inches below the head and pull the handle up just about as much as I wanted to. You can also bend it with your arms and not much of an ugly face. It doesnt take much force. I doubt many would purchase this axe in person. It's expensive for an axe, let alone a head.

The Magic 8-ball says 'NO!'

I saw those in a Cabelas catalog- they look nice. I even thought the nylon handle was a good idea for a camp axe as it would be unbreakable...I guess not unbendable though . I would like to hear what Browning says about this and if Cabelas even test stuff they sell like the old days with L L Bean.
