Browning Gumby Handle Outdoorsman Axe

 Holy crap that'd be scary. A handle that flexes that much could be extremely dangerous. Imagine the head finally pried out only to spring towards your knees as the bow force seeks equilibrium (wow that's a pun filled sentence).

I have used Cabela's for decades. My wife says, when you get their indexed hard cover catalog, you have spent too much with them. However, I don't think they test each and every item anymore. They simply have to many to evaluate. This example of shoddy quality really saddens me.

sure it's supposed to do that ;) keeps it from breaking. At least that's what I would say if I were them....

This is a good example of the 'wall-street-ization' of a good company name. Got a good name? Then why not prostitute that good name to hock cheap crap on an unsuspecting public. Sounds good for the bottom line - until your customers start to question the quality of everything else you make. But what the heck, this quarters profits are up. The CEO is getting his big fat bonus and will be gone when the stock crumbles.

Who cares about that handle, YOU ARE CHOPPING WAY TOO CLOSE TO YOUR FOOT!!!
That was a near miss, you are a lucky dude.

Yup, I dont know what to think. I cant believe something like that could have the Browning name on it. They are marketing this as a real axe. It was more like a Halloween prop, except it had a real head.

Ha ha...in the picture, he's not chopping...he's taking a picture...maybe my joke detector is broken...

I finished 25 years with the Army in 2007. I was sad as hell when we gave up the 1911. I was laying behind the M2 Browning doing sniper deeds all through the 80's. And now our children have the Browning Axe to wave for America. (I'm gonna delete everything after the Halloween prop in a few days. I'm just talkin to the guys that hang out here).

Thanks for your service, Sir. It is a shame. I think there is a renewed interest in true quality tools these days. Although, sometimes it seems more like a renewed interest in looking like you have an interest in quality tools because that's the hip thing to do....

Crapola ! I bought one already.........................how ugly is that..........

Sorry, man. I can't help but see the humor in your "oh, sh*t" moment. You should see if yours is a gumby too and let us know! If it is, maybe you can return it.

They're all like that. I made lots of calls after the return, hoping to find one with a real fiberglass handle. Hope you bought from Amazon, it's an easy return. Hey zekemc, maybe you can take more funny pics.
