I've got 4 BHPs from Belgian to Argi. I call the Argi the Frankenstein HP since it is the tinker gun that any wild hair gets tried on. The gun performed perfectly right out of the box, but cried out for the standard BHP mods - safety, slide release, sights. It also had it's own personal needs - exterior machine marks and pseudo "Pachmyer" grip. All of these were easily changed. The safety and slide release were replaced with drop ins. My gunsmith changed the sights to low profile 3-dot H3s and bead blasted the exterior of the slide and frame removing the machine marks. He black T'd the whole thing and a nice pair of checkered wood went on the grip. I spent $225 for the gun new and another $100 total playing with it (the sights had to be changed and the safety had to go, the rest was elective surgery).
I can't think of a more tried and true design than the BHP and would bet my butt on it if forced to.
