Browning Hi Power

All HiPowers were made in Belgium. At some point in production thoough, they were assembled in Argentina.

High Powers have been produced by many countries under many names. The Argentina FM Brownings were produced by Fabricaciones Militares (FM) of Argentina. We sold lots of them here in SA and although they were not near the fit and finish of the Belgium guns they worked well. They mostly had a rough painted finish which tended to flake off. FEG also made a copy as did Israel (The Kareen if I remember correctly)

I always found it ironic that in the Falklands the Brits and the Argies squared up with the same rifle and handgun....
 
BTW , the double column magazine was not Browning's idea.
During WWII the drawings were taken to England then to production in Canada as the Inglis Browning with an aluminum frame.
