I am looking for information pertaining to a Browning Hunting Knife. It is solid metal including the handle. The handle is approximately 3/16 inches thick. The blade is approximately 4 1/2 - 5 inches long. No serial number as I can see. It has "Browning" etched on the thumb guard. The leather sheath also has "Browning" etched in it. This knife was purchased in approximately the mid 1960s. I have never seen another one like it. Any information as to when this was made, and where it may be purchased today would be greatly appreciated. I have looked for years in shops for this item and have never found anything similar. Thank you for time.

This is the general forum isn't it? Or should I be posting my reply somewhere else?

The first place I would look is www.browning.com . They have an online catalog that includes lots of knives guns and other fun stuff. If you don't find that knife you'll probably find something else you'll like.

I have a large rosewood handled Brownig fixed blade puchase in the early 70's. As my "senior" memory serves me since I don't have the catalog in front of me, all their early stuff was real 440C (not "440Ctype" which is really AUS8). Mine (not the same as yours ) was made in the US. At the time they had a great reputation (better than now) but I have never actually used my pretty knife since I wanted it to stay that way. I remember the all steel hunter since I did consider buying it since it was cheaper but I was swayed by a pretty face.
