Today I lost my Spyderco CPM-D2 Military. and I am very disappointed. Usually I don't put a whole lot of energy into material things but this knife had special meaning.....it was a Christmas gift from my granddaughters. I slipped and fell on the wet grass today while I was out walking the dogs. That's when I must have lost it. And I've got a big bruise on my right hip where I fell to add injury to the loss. I have been somewhat unsteady on my feet lately. I think is a result of an inner ear infection; I had a bad cold all of December and reckon the dizziness might be from this lingering virus.

Of course, it was my fault...the Military was just loose in my outer jacket pocket and not clipped like it should have been. (They put clips on those things for a reason don't they !). A return to the "scene of the crime" revealed no find.

In case anyone has been on the fence about getting the D2 Military...it's a heck of a knife. Just as rugged and well built as all Spydercos.....topped off with a handsome set of Foliage Green G-10 scales. A big folder that carries like a much smaller one !

Such a pitty,I can feel your sorrow.Don't you think it must be still out there?
Maybe look for it in the darkness with a flashlight to get reflections from the blade + screws, might be easier to detect than green on green in the daylight?

Bummer. Don't give up–perhaps you'll find it tomorrow!
Thanks for the thoughts on the knife–I'm pondering one as a gift to my brother.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Gramps, especially as the D2 Military was from the Grandkids. :(

I once lost a SAK in the middle of a huge pasture filled with knee-high grass. I didn't notice until the next day that it was gone. I was CERTAIN I'd never find it again. But you know what? I did. Without even really putting too much advanced thought into it, I went out, retraced my route, and sure enough practically stepped on the thing. You'd be amazed how well you can recall a route you've walked, even without trying.

Go look for it. Assuming no one else has been in that exact spot, it may well still be there.

Good luck! And get better!

Sorry to hear about this Gramps....its hard to replace gifts of "sentimental value" :( hope you get better quickly :)

With a younger set of eyes to help me out and a few bright flashlights I just got back from this morning's "drop zone". The neighbor's son was kind enough to come along and help me search (nice of him to be so helpful on such a cold and rainy Seattle evening).......but no luck. So now it's done ! Time to move on and be thankful for what I have......not regret what I've lost. Anyway, my wife thinks I should be more worried about my unsteady balance and the bruise on my hip right now rather than a lost knife. She's right, of course. Thanks to all who commiserated with me ! ;)

I've actually lost a few knives because of the pocket clip... The shoulder strap of my book bag catches on the clip sometimes, and as I take the next step the bag swings forward and the knife is launched from my pocket. Usually, I would hear the knife fall on the floor and pick it up, but I'm pretty sure I've lost two that way. (One Kershaw Leek and one 1st gen Buck Crosslock, my favourite linerlock folder of all time and my favourite EDC for ten years on and off. :()

Now I carry IWB. It doesn't work with all shapes and sizes, but I sometimes forget that the Caly3 is even there. It's also nice and warm when I pull it out, though in the winter when I put it back in my pants there's a bit of thermal discomfort for a few minutes... There's also that one time it came off in the washroom, but I don't like to talk about that...

I doubt that would happen....he's a real nice kid.
I've known him all his life. It was mighty kind of him to accompany on my search last night; he deserves some praise for that ! Besides, at my ripe ol' age I find the quicker I let go of what's out of my control the brighter my day. ;)
