I received one for Fathers Day:) I have never had a knife that opens so easily (just a flick of the thumb) but yet has absolutely no blade play in any direction when locked open! Very well built and scary sharp to boot.

Mine is dead-nuts in the center of the tang. I have spine-wacked the blade quite hard with no movement of the lock. The liner-lock does seem a little thin, but after testing it, I have full confidence in it.

The more I look at this one, the more I like it. I am trying to keep my wallet as far away as possible from myself!! But I know I will weaken considerably over time. :D

I know what you mean, bro:) That's what makes this one so special- It's great when your kids know you're a knife nut!

Yester5 - Thanks for reply - Sounds like yours is the way it suposed to be - I have one for resale where liner goes all the way over to opposite side of blade. Customer service said that liner lock position was normal; but other Buck liner locks I have in the show cases are as you describe - dead, or very near, centered.

Thanks again.

An addendum to my above post - Decided to send SBT back to Buck Knives for their evaluation & placed it in the mail this AM.

Was pleasantly surprised to receive email soon after from Josh Rummerfield
Director, Buck Tactical Division, inquiring about my post. I am now confident, that with this kind of customer service and concern, this problem will be resolved quickly.

Although my posts have been negative about the liner lock on the SBT 880, this is a great purpose driven knife, and is impressive in its' features, materials and collaborators; and there does seem to be some out there with good lockups. I believe this is a problem that Buck is working hard to straighten out.

Thanks Josh!

This is great knife and I'll buy one right away when Buck make it with plain edge. Why they all serrated?

Thanks, Vassili

I would as well. I'd also like to see real G-10 scales, but then the knife might be a little too close to the SnG.

A limited number of non-serrated 882s are available at www.tadgear.com.

They just ordered them so give them a little bit of time to get them up on the site. They are probably taking phone orders.

Thanks,

Josh

Hey guys. Try cutting a seat belt with a plain edge Vs the serrated. I think the SBT is perfect for what it is designed for, IE: Tactical, Rescue, and Emergency response.

That said, I think the top edges of the blade should be smoothed out. I have three of them and they will get Very rough on clothing if carried in the pocket....And the lockup on these are all "dead center".

I also like how it can be opened with a flick of the wrist.

Great knife !

I noticed that TAD Gear had the plain edge BST 882's up on their site yesterday. :)

What is liners made from?

What is in the upper part of the blade - does not look like bead blasted?
It looks like diamond sharpener for me, but I doubt it.

Little Cons. - I will sand liner lock, kind of sharp - heart me when I unlocking it.

Thanks, Vassili

Someone from Buck correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the blade has what is called "positive deployment texturing", which I think, allows the user to grip the blade at that point to do fine work, snap openings, etc. I also believe the liners are 400 series stainless steel. Good luck with her- I like that plain edge as well:)

Are there any press-release with details about this knife? I can imagine that there are many thought behind this design, it will very interesting to read more about it.

What is EDM?
Is it bronze on pivot, same as for 880?

Thanks, Vassili.

...Well, I assume that pivot is bronze and EDM is some secret process I, probably, must not know..
