I've only put 100 rounds through it (just got it back last week). hard chrome is one of, it not the most durable finish out there. It will withstand water, sweat, salt and many other elements. The P7 series, however, has a pretty rigorous maintenece schedule. I clean them after every range session. Some made the analogy on one of the boards that cleaning a P7 is like try to detail clean an english muffin :D
