BTW FWIW IMHO WTF is up with IWB?

Why carry in the waistband? Only two reasons that I can think of that are good for IWB carry:

1. It is illeagal to carry that kind of blade, so you gotta keep it out of sight.
2. Your a ninja out of uniform, and actually go on the offensive with a knife.

Don't give me that crap about you don't want your attacker to know you have a weapon until the last second! If he knew you had a weapon, he may have not have attacked you in the first place. IWB is harder to access than pocket carry for SD, and I find it quite uncomfortable. Is there any reason why one would would want to (legally) carry IWB?

Whew, I am glad that is out of the way, I will sleep a lot better tonight knowing that one size fits all in your world

I've never found it to be comfortable. I also don't know how anything inside the pocket could get in the way of a clipped knife, could someone explain.

Comfort, ease, ability to carry any size knife I want. As to pocket woes, it's not that they inhibit the knife it's that the knife inhibits them--aka I don't want to have to pull my knife out and put in in my one hand to dig out my keys/change/etc. But, since all of these have already been mentioned and since this thread was started with something of a smart-assed and abrasive tone, I'll answer in like fashion because that's more fun...

I carry my knife in my waistband because I actually am in shape and don't have rolls of fat in the way. If my knife becomes uncomfortable and inaccessible to me, it'll be a good indication that I need to change more than my carry habits. ;)

It depends a lot on the size/design of the knife. My Centofante 4 was a great IWB, I've actually slept (by accident) with it in place, and it was fine. Ti Leek is good (if a bit difficult to retrieve) now that I have a low-rider clip from STR.

My reasons:
Nearly invisible (lowrider, dark-blued clip from STR)
I actually can usually grab it more quickly than I could in my pocket, since I have to fish around for it in my pocket (can't afford to have the clip exposed on my pocket... damn college.)
One less thing to carry in my already overloaded front pockets.

sometimes, the knife clipped to my pocket catches on things, like my seatbelt. IWB is more comfortable for me. also, if i'm somewhere where people might get alarmed if they see it in my pocket, out of courtesy, i'll tuck it in my waistband. or maybe if i don't have pockets.

IWB is a good option for fixed blades. It is comfortable, secure, discrete, and you can attach & detatch the clip-on sheath instantly.

The thing is, I tried it out today, and it hurt me. I sat down and just about got it in the manliness! I was carrying a full size Manix in front of my right pocket, maybe if my manliness was smaller it would work...

Try it at about 4 o clock

Anyone carry S.O.B.? Supposedly least searched by bar bouncers, etc

Least searched is groin and behind-the-neck.

S.O.B. is uncomfortable for me. Plus, according to MacYoung, an unconcealed knife worn S.O.B. is a temptation for someone to grab it -- from BGs to idiots thinking they're "funny."

BTW, I've seen many "concealed" handguns worn S.O.B., when the jacket gets tucked behind the grip while sitting in a car. They they are, walking around in public, with their "concealed" weapon out for all to see (remember the scene in "Scarface" where TM's buddy beeps at him as he's walking away from the car?).

Hey Guys...

Michael...

I carry IWB All the time,, almost daily...Only fixed blades though

There are several reasons I do this

It is something you must get use to, and it certainly isn't for everyone,, or every knife for that matter...

What you are doing is called "felony carry" or "appendix carry" not something I can do well because of my size..I simply don't find it comfortable...

Try the 3-5 oclock and the 7-9 oclock positions,, and I think it'll work better for you,, even with a large folder..

I either "felony carry" where i can slip my hand under my shirt (i stand holding my belt or my shirt anyway, never was a hands in the pocket guy), or right behind my hip, like 4 o clockish. i can discreetly get at it there, and the shirt doesn't seem to ride up at all. This is all referencing folders, BTW. I usually carry smaller ones 3-4 inch blades, so they're usually comfortable. the benchmade ambush is the only one i had a problem with IWB, the clip was too small, and the knife poked me "down there" but then again, I'm pretty well endowed, if i do say so myself:rolleyes: it depends on the knife and the person's preferences for comfort.

Since everything "hangs down" on us guys (at least most of the time:D ), it really does not matter how well endowed you are, it matters more how low your pants ride.
You could poke yourself in the privates if you wore your pants like the hiphop-gangsta-retardo-style with them hanging halfway down your butt.

Or maybe if one has a freakishly small pelvis and torso....?
