Buck ànd Prototypes. .

I seen a reference for a prototype 110 in Stag from the Buck custom shop in 1981 - 1983 era that had what looked like a tang stamp on the bottom brass bolster with the number 5 stamped below it. The sheith was also wider to acomdate the extra with of the stag. So it looks like Buck has treated it's samples/concept knives in many different ways depending on the model and reason..and time it was made. It does seem Buck employees past and present are the source of many examples of odd ,1 of 1 and prototype knives. In fact that's where I got my Flag proto 112. I remember that Joe got a lot of rare Buck items out of the dumpster that were being tossed out during the move to Post Falls. I can just imagine how many examples of parts and materials used in the development of Buck models and prototypes have not been saved. I would love to see the prototypes of sheiths and emblems that didn't make the final cut.

There has to be more prototypes/samples and photo knives out there... I'll have to dig around in my pictures to see what I can find ☆☆☆
