Buck 040 Onset... Good Buy or Good Bye?

Maybe I'm out of touch but a knife at a $210 price point, 4ever warranty, or not, should have any issues when it leaves the factory.
That's mostly my point. From the descriptions here I'm not saying it's a QC problem. It sounds more like maybe an odd design choice that may or may not bother you. If you don't like how it feels, is it even a warranty issue?

my impression was design issues, as in dislikes, more than actual build or design failures...but maybe I took that all wrong?

Being forced to abandon my 110 Hunter Sport, I'm back to the Onset.

I'm thinking it is the detent ball that's catching.
And that makes sense, beings JB says his 2 are doing it as well. So if that's the case it's a design issue.

I will say I trust the frame lock on this more than I do the liner lock on the Vantage or Sprint.
Tho they unlock smoother and easier.
The Onset is solid. This thing is not gonna fail you.

Some complain about blade thickness. I think its fine. It's definitely a cutter, but I like flat grind blades. And I like how s45 v performs.

Would I buy it again?
I got it at BCCI pricing less 15%, so yes I would buy it again at that price. Actually that's the only reason I bought it,

I'm unsure if the closing issue can be made to be better as is.... But the stronger lock my be worth the inconvenience.

Awhile back I read there was a possibility of a new version Vantage.
I'm interested in the possibility of that being a great knife.
