i wanted to see photos of your Buck 102s, maybe in action. I know there many versions or with different handles, so it would be great to see the variety.

Another question, do they make it in 5160 with the wood handle?

Here's a nice early one.

Hard to find in this condition.

there is a sfo 5160 cocobolo 102. not sure if i can mention their name here. it’s currently out of stock though. i hope they get more in.

google it

I have a question about the pommel on the early knives. Vern Taylor had an article in the Newsletter and mentioned that for the early production knives the pommel was made from flat bar stock. When was this changed?

Bert

That's up to 1967 or in other words through 1966, right?
Interesting.......I'm wondering where mine fits chronologically. Do you know

Pretty sure there is a BUCK* in that picture. That generally is attributed to late 66 /early 67.
As to the age of yours, i think the pommel became less angular and a bit more rounded/fuller with time.
That would make yours more in the later part of the time period.

I think the pommel changed to a casting pretty early on. The more "barstock" looking pommels are on the barrel nuts as they seem to exhibit a little more variation in shape.

Thanks. I couldn't see the asterisk on any of them.

I looked again and I think I see the asterisk on Bucklife301's old one, though.

I've always guessed 65 or 66 on mine, so I've probably been figuring it about right.
