Buck 103

Dang, that edge even looks razorsharp, the angle of the grind just looks like its wicked sharp, hows it work skinning deer?I like it.

I don't think so as Buck had a different shaped skinner in the 1950's then this current shape appeared in 1961 . So, why did it change when they already had a good shape ?
Different guys at the helm, market factors, ect.. I still, like the shape of their 110 Skinner
better than the 103 . Al had it correct, a better feature or two .
Nice, knife and photos, Post .DM

Thinking more about it, Al did both of those models . As Chuck didn't graduate from high school until 1957 and then went into the service . So, it would be close but he could have been making/designing knives in 1961 . DM

Yeah,of all the new super steels and whatnot,a guy just can't help but look back at those 440c knives and feel some sort of loss knowing those 440 c knives aren't available now, whats the chance that buck would make a high end 103 skinner?or did they?I didin't know they could even ad th new edge grind to the old 440 c because of the hump .

Joe can do anything at Buck :D He's the man! They have alot of talented individuals there that are also quite talented! I was super happy with the grind on that 103. I was nervous before it arrived, hoping I didnt booger it up, but I love it. Buck made the Signature Series 803 in S30V, my dad uses that one, I really love that as well, but those are hard to come by!
Maybe us 103 supporters will get an "upgrade" someday, for now though, there are still quite a few 440C knives available!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Razor, They sure can do the edge 2000 on any knife . I've seen the 103 in S30V steel with a full tang and checkered walnut handle, a 803 . Simply striking . I think Flat has one . DM

Yes,I forgot about the 803 ,thats a sweet blade too.It would be so nice to see a cabelas s30v alaskan guide 103 ,I doubt i'd have to actually sharpen that one more than once every few season if i just used it for skinning out big game.LOL.It would make a great addition for moose camp too.I'm after one of those 440 c skinners now.LOL.
