My right hand has never fully "recovered" from when I broke three fingers in five different places. So, it is tough to get a good grip on a tool.
It has been over a decade since I have held a FG 110 or 112. However, I am thinking of trying 'em out as choices for EDC. I'd prob use the 110 FG more than the 112 for the EDC but would like to have both for my hoarding.

Question...seems like the 112 FG units are going for a high price on e-bay.
What would be reasonable for a new one? Everywhere I look it's like $30 plus. Some place ya know of where I can get a new 112 FG on the cheap?

$30 for a 112 seems high when you can get a new 110 Wally for under 25 including shipping.

Example:

There is a seller on eBay who frequently has 112FG's as Buy It Now items...Here's the auction that ended today...

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Buck-112-FG...ryZ63792QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

$34.95 + $8.95 might seem like a lot...but I've bought several 112's and 110's from this seller, and they are brand new in box with leather sheath...and he has quite a few of them...

If you like his price, and want one now, send him an email...or wait until he lists again...(probably in a day or two)...

Thanks Chickentrax...seems high, again when compared to the new 110s, but maybe it is what it is.

mfinden,

I don't think that you'll find many deals on FGs, 110 or 112. I say that because they are my favorite and I watch for deals on them. You can get deals...I got a buy it now on a 110 for $24.00 and 6.00 shipping:). They're out there, but you'll have to watch and be patient. Most lately that have been for auction have sold for a high price:rolleyes:. Good Luck, Preston

Got my two FGs in the mail today. A 110 and a 112. Both are 1986 ("<") models.

The 110 is definitely in need of life support...that sucker is toast...I think I'll send it in someday for new steel...don't know which type, but this knife needs an overhaul. Hate seeing bolster marks from where someone decided to use the knife as a hammer. Makes me all poodle eyed.

The 112 FG is, well, for lack of a better word, cute. Don't think it'll end up in my EDC rotation but I do like it. It has been used well and cared for fairly well. Looks like it was used a lot but is in good shape...except for the sping back...the blade is a bit loose when closed.

Got a 110FG BG-42 on the way - "check's in the mail" as the flim flam men say ;)

Thanks for all the advice. I like the FG and it does better in my busted paw.

Goose,,,Didn't I see somewhere that you have a 560?

How does the 110/112 FG's compare to it , for you?

Just curious.

I prefer the 110FG over the 560. The 560 is thinner yet a tad taller..."taller" meaning if you set the two knives open on their spines, the 560 is taller.
Since I can't grip into a fist, the 110 is a better fit due to it's width from outside one scale to the other. You know the expression; it's not the length but the girth that matters :jerkit: ;)

Thinking that the 560 will end up in its' coffin and put in the mausoleum (closet). This 110FG will be sent in for refurb. May keep the original blade, but who knows.

Thanks for asking my rodent buck-aneer...

Ahhh, I understand, Girth is good  so you might be interested in one of the Transition 110/112 combos. Those are fat rascals. No,, you cant have mine

Heck, I never even thought of that one. Mine (SP-78) is in it's coffin in the closet. But I wouldn't use it...got it for the same reason I got others that are confined to pergatory...addiction.

I just brought it out of the crypt for a viewing upon reading your post Pack Rat...it does fit the bill quite nicely. But I don't know if I'd be willing to get another one...just yet.

My habit has to be quenched and you guys are one heck of a bad influence. Kid is short report card money...maybe I should give her one of those closet queens and call it even.

I need to learn to "just say no".

Would take your transition 110/2 as my birthday is coming up and I know that you will have a change of heart by then ;)

yeah, good point Gypsy. But I told my kids that school is their "job" and if they do better than average they'll get a "bonus".
I'm thinking she'll think it's a 'gyp' (HA HA...get it GYPsy?) if I give her a knife as she gets 'em all when I croak anyway.
Goose.

hey... I don't mind being 'gyp-ed" - give me the knife:rolleyes:

and are we adding another animal to the yard - geese honk - frogs croak.........
: :D

Goose, have you ever considered a Buck Goliath, I think its model 446, I know it would fit your mitt!! Its a discontinued model, but they come up on e bay a lot and are usually priced reasonably. I'll send you a scan of one next to a 560.

That Goliath is a beast! Not too hip on the composite handle. I'm a wood/steel kine guy. But things change...in fact, when I get more change maybe I'll look into one. It seems it would be good in a saddle bag for one of those "damn! Wish I had a beast of a knife!" days.

I presume that is a OAB you put on it Mr ZZJ?

Honk!
Goose.
