Buck 110 Alaskan Guide

I hate most black blades, but the deep blue AG blade is beautiful. Looks expensive and classy.

I hate most Logos (the ugly and stupid "Pro-Line" for example) but the AG Logo is so well-done that I actually like it.

As to removing things, a guy at the Cabela's knife counter in Rogers, MN recently told me that they had a problem where an employee cleaned up some AGs with a bore-cleaning solution (like Hoppes, I guess) and it took off the blade coatings. They had to sell them in the Bargain Cave.

I didn't see one, so I don't know what the final product looked like. Might or might not be advisable to try......you should check with Buck.

I have been looking at these very hard...I love the 110 design, and the Cabela's AG is a beauty...but I'm not sold on that cheesy label on the blade...is it a screen print, etching, etc? And can it be removed without damaging the blade?

The Cabela's logo is the only thing holding be back from ordering one.

Thanks......

SPX, don't let the logo hold you back, it can be easily removed.
Check out this thread for the details....

Good luck,

I know a few guys have removed the AG logo. Not sure how they did it.

Another option is to get the 110 from Bass Pro. Same basic knife (CMP154 instead of S30V) but no logo.

Just posting a pic of some S30V 110AG's: top 2 have had the emblem removed, elephant ivory, mammoth tooth, rosewood, & sambar stag. I used "Goof-Off" to remove one emblem.

allenC, thanks for the link. Looks like a new 110AG will be here soon!

Trust me, you're gonna love it!

Here's a picture of the logo side, without the logo!

I think you will find that the question ‘rivets or no rivets’ is one of personal taste. Personally I think they look good on wood scales but I would order stag without. The glue Buck uses will hold just fine without rivets and as you probably know stag and other scale materials that come from animals can crack at the rivet over time. Just try and find a pre WWII Remington scout knife that doesn’t have a crack or two in the bone scales. That is a hard thing to do.

Count me in as AG 110 fan---like many others, I have one for using and one for showing off---actually its still in the factory packaging and didn't even pull it out of the stuff(other than the box) to look it over in the store.

The AG sheaths are fantastic too. Much better than the std Buck or even the Custom Shop sheaths.

Not certain why the question of pins or no pins come up in the 110AG thread. But I'll play along.

I agree with WTB on the functionality of glued scales. Our roving reporting at Buck (Joe) mentioned that he has seen few, if any, come back for scales adhesion. Exceptions those being exposed to harsh chemicals. IIRC.

So, I think it is a "Ginger or Mary Ann" question.
Or "front or top laod smoker" (that one I am still trying to determine ).

That being said, I like the pins on the wood and especially like 'em on the stag (looks ol' school).

Jury is out on my opinion of pins on jigged buff 110 knives. Got three that I am looking at right here...the one that is pinned is 110 Damascus Serrated received from Decaf.

Back to thread: The 110AG Sambar has no pins. Woody has pins.

Why is it so difficult to find production 110's with serrations? I love serrations
on a knife either 50/50 or full and it seems the only way to get one is to custom order.

Any ideas?

Thank You

I bought a standard 110 a few years ago from Dicks sporting goods with seerations.

I just got back from the Cabelas in Rogers,MN. I just bought my first 110 ever and got the AG. The display model was tighter (zero play) than the one (I guess the only one they had in the back....which they said came in this morning)

So I took the display model. They said it was only used as a display knife for about a week. Who knows if that is true but it is nice and tight.

I'm glad I handled them both to check the play on each of them. Makes me wonder if I will ever order one online...because who knows what you will get.

Thanks everybody here on my Buck knife education!

The AG sheaths are fantastic too. Much better than the std Buck or even the Custom Shop sheaths.

Congrats on your first 110. The AG is an outstanding choice for your first one! Let us know what you think of it after you start using it.
