Buck 110 auto

I read somewhere that the sheaths supplied with the 110 and 112 autos is designed to help prevent the firing button from accidentally getting pushed when the sheath is snapped closed. If that is the case then that might explain the boxier appearance.

I read that here too. It's plausible! I just looked more closely. The front side is very stiff due to an added layer of leather on the inside. I can see how the added stiffness would protect the button from an accidental press when you bump into something.

I just tried it in the aftermarket open-topped pouch I use to carry my regular 110 on my neck lanyard. It's thick/stiff enough that I can't get the button to press far enough to activate. I think the standard stiff sheath would do the same until it got old and started to soften. The floppier distressed leather sheaths probably not so much!

What about autos for foid carrying people from Illinois? If you have a firearm owners ID you can purchase and possess them.

From my understanding an FOID card does not cover automatic knives but I would check with AKTI.org they are a great resource for keeping up with specific state laws regarding knives. CJ happens to be on the board.

Effective August 11, 2017, Illinois SB 607 makes the possession and carrying of automatic knives legal for any citizens who possess a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (FOID). SB 607 does not require a firearms concealed carry permit in order to possess and carry an automatic knife.

I’d love to buy a 110 auto but living in the stupid state of Washington gets in the way. I believe even driving to Idaho to the Buck factory store they will check your ID before selling you one.

I have a question concerning shipping of autos. Forgive my confusion, I just want to clarify. Shipping across state lines to anyone who isn't a federal employee or knife manufacturer is illegal, yes? No matter what that state's view on the legality of said auto is? For the record, I live in Alabama. As far as I know, there are no restrictions on ownership here. We love our knives, of all sorts. Is it legal for me to have one shipped here? Can I find them at a big knife store? Just asking, hypothetically, in case I wanted to buy one.

Which means it's effectively for IL residents only (and then only those who are willing to jump through the FOID hoops).

We have made them available to purchase through our website to states that allow the sale of "automatic" opening knives. If you add one to your cart you can read the agreement.

This is a big thing for those of us with Buck autos as well as those who want to acquire them from you. It's going to greatly simplify any warranty service or repairs that we may need in the future.

PS The blade replacement, scale replacement, frame/bolster do-over, and spa job your shop did on the 112 I sent in last year was MAGNIFICENT.

Thank you, I will pass this along to the gentleman how worked on your 112. It was a big project to get them online and glad we accomplished it. Everyone in the USA could always send their autos back to us for repair or SPA's and get them back since it was a repair and not a sale.

That Really sounds great. I remember that Buck could receive them but could not ship them back because of Laws. I am glad to hear you can fix them and send them back.

Thank you! This is excellent news for knife owners everywhere. And possibly bad news for my bank account 😆.

Clarification!
Thanks.
That has been a topic here many times.
