Hey Guys I was just wondering if you prefer the tan leather or black leather sheath for the buck 110 custom. Does the black leather sheath have anything over the tan leather sheath? thanks

Personal preference, but then, what could look better than this?

When did you get that custom 110? I don't think that the tan leather sheaths look like that anymore judging from buck's website. they resemble the black leather sheath.

To be honest, I don't recall exactly when I got it. I think it was some time in 2008 or maybe early 2009.

Damn, Maybe the pic is just wrong on buck's website. How does this sheath shape feel while on your belt? any difference?

Can't tell you much about that, I don't often have it on my belt. Unfortunately it's a right handed sheath and I'm left handed and wearing it backwards just feels odd.

Apart from that, it does sit nicely on the belt and doesn't flop around or anything.

I have a thing about mixing different colours of leather. My belt, shoes or boots, and sometime jacket are all black, so naturally I'dn have to go with the black, I don't think it looks good to mix and match.

Are the leather sheaths that come with a custom the same as the current standard 110 sheath? I just ask because I have 2 customs sitting at a friends hours awaiting pickup this week, I assume they are?

The sheath shown above is an old model not available anymore from Buck as far as I know. It is my favorite of all the Buck supplied sheaths.

yes they are the same. now the "standard" 110 sheath is made out of cordura when you buy them from stores in the package most of the time. but in terms of leather sheaths they are exactly the same besides that funky looking tan one :)

Thanks! I like the style of that tan one posted above though. the current ones are decent but it'd be nice if they could bring that one back!

so they don't make the tan leather ones like that anymore?

I think you meant to quote Plumberdv. I'm not certain myself but that's what he has posted and sounds right based off the tiny pics I've seen on the buck site when checking out.

You could, of course, talk to one of the good sheath makers here and get exactly what you want custom made.

I wish one could buy that brown distressed leather sheath that my recently purchased cow bone 110 came with. I love that sheath.

I have one just like the brown one that has been posted early in this thread. I was in a pawn shop, and saw a 4 dot 110 (The newer handle and frame as opposed to the 4 dots with the older blocky frame). I passed on the knife and bought the sheath for $10.00. It is a favorite of mine too. I put a light red colored Founders Edition Rosewood in it and it matches beautifully. I use it and have put a lot of mink oil on it to protect it. It took a deeper brown hue to it.

Just thought I'd give some background to the one I bought so you all can date these sheathes.

Yes indeed, distressed leather is my favorite of all because it matches my shoes. ;)

Truth is that I like them all.
