Buck 110 Black or Tan Leather Sheath?

I like tan colored sheaths and belts. I recently picked up a Buck 111 with a beautiful tanned leather pouch.

I have a preference for black sheaths to be matched up with nickel silver bolsters. I readily admit that some handle materials will look better with black sheaths while others match up better with brown leather, but most often, I find that the black leather sheath with nickel silver frame makes a good aesthetic match. Also, a Buck dealer can order extra sheaths and at times this includes my personal favorite, the brown distressed leather type. I try to keep a few of them around for special 110s and 112s I run across or have built by Leroy Remer or Wilde Bill Cody. The right sheath really does enhance a knife, doesn't it?

A nylon sheath has one obvious advantage if the knife is a user. You can just throw it in the laundry if it gets mud, blood, etc. on it.

I wonder why the brown leather is distressed?

It must be afraid someone is going to put a Spyderco in it:p

Sorry, just can help myself sometimes:)

well I got 2 custom 110's one with a black leather sheath and one with a brown leather sheath and I have to say that the black leather sheath seemed much tougher and it looked a lot better. the tan leather sheath felt extremely broken in and the leather was a bit thinner. It also had some color variation that I did not like as well. As for the black leather sheath it was perfect: it felt tough, reliable, and didn't feel/look like I have owned it for years.

True, True, but I prefer sticking to the buck sheath. its less money ($5.00) and looks great in my opinion.

I figure if you're going to spend the money to get yourself a custom Buck, why skimp on a nice sheath for it? Just my .02 cents. :)

Do you know of any sheath makers that offer heavy, black, vegetable tanned or harness leather sheaths for the 110?

I like the brown....knivesngear, I had this knife made in 2005 (1st picture) and got this sheath. To me, there is no difference between this one and a square butt sheath as far as feel, but I like the looks of the half round better.

Personally, I like the brown distressed leather sheath. I dislike new looking gear. I enjoy the look of honest use, so it matches the rest of my kit.

I prefer the brown leather sheaths, since most of my belts and boots are brown. I'll make do with the black nylon sheath that came with my 110's, until I can afford a brown leather sheath. It just don't feel "right" putting a Buck 110 in a Schrade sheath.

started carrying one of my 110's awhile back, seems like it rides abit high on my hip, anybody else have this problem or do i just need to get used to it?
