Buck 110 custom pictures???

I don't think you are wrong, BG. :(

I have noticed this trend on other newer Buck knives and I must admit that I feel mildly disappointed. I am assuming that the laser etch is a necessary cost reduction measure, but I would pay another $5 for a proper stamp. It won't stop me from buying custom shop goodies, but I think that like so many things today, we have taken a step backward.

Edit - I just took another look at the blade and it is not exactly like other laser etched Bucks that I own. This etch has shiny sides on the lettering, which makes me think it may be a diamond etch.

I'll post this again. It seems there's a reason for the new "stamps" and according to this, it's not a cost factor.

This just in:
We started lasering the logos on the premium steels because those blades dont like to get stamped on both sides. Sometimes they would crack. They did an unknown quantity with the inverted stamp (laser).
They recently swiched to engraving the Buck and Bos logos, instead of lasering.
Personally I like the stamping the best.....but then again I dont like cracked blades either...I'm funny like that.

Does anyone have a picture of the lazer etched blades? I'm just wondering what they look like. Some of my other knives have lazer etch and I've gotten use to it.(exmpl: ESEE, BRKT)

I believe that this is lazer etched.

This I believe is the engraving that Joe referred to in his statement.

I hate to say it but the etching looks better to me than the engraving. Well got to run.

There's a problem with the "company line" about the etching problem.

Simple question.

Why don't they just stamp it on the same side along the top side of the blade as they did with the last real premium steel they had???

I've asked this several times before, but no answer has been given.

Ok I'm resurrecting an old thread of mine to try to find out a few things on the custom 110s from Buck.

1. Did they end up going with an engraving , stamping, or etching?

2.Are the wood real wood or dymondwood just in the colors of the listed wood. example is walnut walnut or is it walnut color dymondwood.
