Buck 110 made in China?

I may have to go within a short distance of our local DSG's today, if I do, will check their 110's and take a camera.

I just recently found one of these knockoffs in my neighborhood. Someone tried to tell me it was a buck, cuz it was in a leather buck knife case. Of course i was stoked till i saw CHINA on the tang. Did some research and found it on assistedknives.com labeled "buck auto". Hope this clears up some questions

I had a friend out shooting some archery targets and he told me that he finally got himself a 110,now when he showed it to me i started lmao,as it was a made in china Winchester folder, not anywhere near a buck 110 in quality. He said he couldn't see a difference, his knife wouldn't cut a piece of rope, wouldn't cut a burlap target bag, wouldn't cut anything,LOL,There is your difference, mine cuts stuff!

Went to Dicks today and looked at the 110s in the clam pack. Hard to read the tang but USA made all the way....

I have a 110 that is stamp Buck -110- USA could someone please tell me what year it was made?

Welcome to the forum.

Here is a link to Buck date codes. If your's isn't marked with one it's probably earlier than 1986 and some of the more knowledgeable members can give you more input. Also look for a series of dots on one or both sides of the model number.

Fritz, you may want to allow that your numbers are highly speculative at this point.

Joe said,
Even if we figure that the change took place at the end of June....

In other words, at this point, nobody knows.

I've always maintained that the Double shows up a lot more frequently than the Single.

The term "Mid-Year" does not mean June, it would be better expressed by "Sometime during the year."

Here's an old memo that might interest you.

A memo from Buck Senior Manufacturing Engineer Bill Keys dated Dec. 5, 1991 addressed the issue: "The ECR (engineering change request) for the 110 blade and rocker redesign has been approved. To assist Consumer Relations in differentiation between new design and old design knives produced in 1992, a change in the stamp will be made. The spring holder to be used with the new design will be
determined in '92 after additional testing on new design production parts..."

The only question is--how long did that testing take?

So, the estimate of 26,000 of each is just the MOST conservative guess and may be WAY off.

Based on my experience searching for these, I'd say it probably is.
