Buck 110 on "Lost", but what a blooper!

I don't recall any knife episodes...what was it about??? :)

It was one of the first couple of seasons. Something was putting people into big "coccoons" up in trees. Scully uses a Buck 110 to cut into one to see what's what. I'll try to remember the episode name...

Here you go: Darkness Falls

Buck Knives Anecdote: I remember discussing this episode on the WeLL the week after it first aired. I made a comment about the Buck 110, and I made a friend because another regular there told me she had a 110 of her own and used it all the time. It's weird how people bond!

I can only enjoy adventure shows when I can suspend disbelief. Bad knife and gun errors will ruin it, but with "Lost" I never made it past the part where the plane lost the entire tail assembly and many survived. Ain't gonna happen. It just ain't. So, from what I read in this thread the folks in the tail section lived too? Hey, I know it's just fiction but that's just plain dumb.

Ha!!! That was on Encore last night...I watched it just to see the Buck 112!... :D

Pretty funny - the orderly's name was "Buck"!... ;)

I must have missed that one...The summary doesn't ring any bells...the only cocoon episode I can recall was some guy who chewed newspapers up into giant spitballs and made lairs out of them... (I don't recall the rest)

That was that creepy Tooms guy, who could also squeeze through tiny openings. He was actually in two episodes ... apparently the character was popular!

"Darkness Falls" was toward the end of the first season. The summary didn't mention it, but when they saw the bugs that made the coccoons, all you could see were little green lights swarming. You might remember that part if you've seen the episode.

Here's a screenshot of a Buck 110 from "Flashpoint"...Unfortunately, we can't see the tang stamp, so it's anybody's guess what year it is...

Does anyone remember the ubiquitous Buck 112s on the belts of "them Duke Boys" the "Dukes of Hazzard" series? Do they still have them on their belts in the recently released movie version?

Did anyone else wonder why they never used them to cut themselves loose (in the series) when they got tied up each week?

How did they get all those blades through airport security?
I did see that episode with the "over 20 year" "U.S. ARMY" Buck and have been searching all the surplus stores looking for one. ;)
Seriously though, any press is good press. Cool to know others caught this too (just saw this for the first time as a re-run a few weeks ago).
Thank goodness for this forum...
Not only can I now save gas, I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance!!!

Well, in the past week or so, I have seen one Pathfinder, General, and two 110 folders on "COPS".

What I saw today surpirsed me though...in Des Moines (sp?), Iowa, it is apparently illegal to have a 3.5 inch fixed blade in your car cup holder (in sheath and not covered). Arrested the guy for CCW. Officer didn't get into the specifics, but told the perp that it is illegal to have a fixed blade in the car.

I will write that in my "what did I learn today" book...

Sounds like an over zealous cop who got caught up with the tv camera. I really doubt that Iowa has a CCW law that includes sheath knives in plain sight. :jerkit:

Well, it started with the Huggy Bear van being pulled over for not using his turn signal three times. Then it was a suspended license...outta the van buddy. Officer looks inside, a sheathed Sharpfinger in the cup holder. Cuffs on.

Next, a ball bat. Next a syringe. Then some meth.

Guy asking what he is being arrested for: Posession of drug paraphenilia and posession of drugs. Argues with officer, and then, "oh, BTW, posession of a concealed weapon...it is against the law to have a fixed blade in your vehicle".

So, I think it was 'cus the guy was arguing/disputing that he got hit with the knife gig...but the fop said clearly that it was illegal.

As Paul Harvey would say, "and now, you know the rest of the story".

Well, let's see, the guy is driving down the road with the drugs and paraphernalia right there in plain sight in the van! What's there to argue with? This is what is commonly referred to as being under arrest for being stupid in public. The CCW is nothing more than a slap in the face and will most likely be dropped (since the elements of CCW are simply not there)
Like I always said.....if the bad guys had brains, we'd all be in trouble.
