Which folder, the buck 110, or the ez out, do you people think would be better for everyday carry?

I was planning on using the ez out for edc, and my 110 for hunting. LMK your opinions.

What will you use your knife for? That would make it eaiser to know what advice to give you.

Pretty much for your average everyday stuff. CUtting boxes, twine, wood, papers, tape, just average work activities.

Well, having owned both, I can tell you the Buck 110 is about 10 times the knife as the Gerber as far as strength, but it's also quite a bit heavier to carry.

For the kind of use you are talking about, daily light cutting, as much as I am a Buck 110 WORSHIPPER, the Gerber is gonna be a lot easier to carry around. Now for hunting, the 110 RULES over the Gerber!

Actually, I wouldn't even consider these to as in the same class, the Buck being so much stronger.

WOW....did I jsut recommend something over a Buck 110....I gotta go to teh E.R., I must be sick!

yuk yuk

I have both knives. The buck feels solid, looks great and gives you a certain pride of ownership. The EZ Out feels flimsy, looks cheap and makes you feel ashamed to own it ;). But seriously, the 110 is a far better knife IMHO.

Wife has an EZ out JR, we looked at the EZ out ,but size Did matter. Anyway, the Buck is like said above, 10 times better. The Gerber Paraframe is a better knife than the EZ out.

I agree with all of the above about the 110 being 10 times the knife, I own both. I also agree that it's heavy and bulky. That said, what you really want is a Buck 560 - the titanium handled 110. It's out of production, but you can still find them around for a reasonable price. It's a bit thinner than the 110, and about half the weight, so it carries fine in pocket or in a sheath. If you want serious bang for the buck, so to speak, have Buck swap in a BG-42 blade for $35.

Leatherbird, you exaggerated a little, my wife preferrs the mini paraframe to the EZout. That doesnt say much for the USA made vs China debate.

I don't know that the weight/bulk of the 110 matters much when you carry it in a belt sheath. If you don't want it in a sheath, then it will be very heavy (ie. wear a belt so your pants don't fall off).

Both knives are about the same size, but the Buck will look a little bigger because of the shape of the blade, so it may or may not be sheeple friendly. I've had a Buck 110 out at work and people were a little wary, my tacticals don't seem to phase people even if they're the same size.

I own a Gerber Full size EZ out and love it. It is very light (4ounces) and is great for edc carry when wearing a suit, dress clothes and such. I bought the ez out for it is stamped USA. Interesting, i thought a lot of people prefered USA..... guess not.

Any how, i also edc a BM Stryker and Spyderco SS Endura.

Well, so did I . But my wife has has her mini paraframe for 2 years and the EZ out Jr for 3 months and the Jr has already been replaced under warranty.

Ther's nothing wring with the EZ out, it's cheap enough to be almost disposable, takes a nice edge, will get the job done at the level you want to use it at, and comes out of the pocket fast and, well, easy. I've used one to dress a deer, so it'll do that too. I'dve rather had a 110, but the EZ Out got it done, and it's light enough to be a comfortable edc without a sheath, which the 110 isn't. I love the 110, second knife I owned, first was a sak tinker, age 8, the 110 was given to me at 10, still have it, still on of my favorites, and I was proud to give one to my son when he turned ten, so don't flame me as a Buck hater, just a question of which tool for which job.

All that said, the Endura, or even one of the new Byrds, is a much better knife, with all the advantages for daily carry noted above.

Yeah, because most people on this thread prefer the USA MADE Buck 110, we must not prefer knives that are made in the USA.

I carry a buck 110 for my edc and I think the weight is a bonus, since I can always tell which pocket it is in. Of course I dont have to do much walking during the course of my job, but if I did, I would have to carry it in its sheath.
I used to like gerber when I was younger, But I fell out of love with them some time ago. And I am not talking about baby food, although that statement would apply as well. :D

Im sorry, i should have made myself more clear. I meant the ez out vs the paraframe. I chose the ez out for it was stamped USA and the paraframe was stamped Taiwan.

I had a buck 110 and traded it a long time ago. It was hard to sharpen, however i wish i would have not traded it.

While still on the subject, the ez is perfect as a back up blade carry when im up in the mountains and carry my CS recon tanto or CVA USA Bowie. The ez out is so light it could piggy bag on my cs rt as well.

I have an EZ out Junior that I got quite a few years ago. It has become one of my designated "abuse knives" and lives in my motorcycle's tool roll. It's disposably cheap and takes up no room or space.

My 20+ year old Victorinox SAK Huntsman, on the other hand, was my only knife through my childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. It held up to every sort of light and abusive treatment and is still going strong.
