Buck 110 or Woodsman?

You may want to consider a 121 if it's a fixed blade you're leaning towards. They're not in production anymore but you can normally find them on ebay. They're a great knife.

Thanks alot guys for all the imput. I think it was a 119 or 118 but it was a hefty knife bigger than the pathfinder. That knife felt real good in the hand as well. BUT then again I like many of the buck knives. I'm thinking of passing down my buck knife to my son when he gets bigger something of a right of passage type of thing. Something where he will remember every camping trip his dad had this knife. And since it will be going along with us on our first camping trip even the more sentimental, I will have to get another buck quick too, I have to give something to my little girl as well. But I'm thinking she will get her dad's .44 Ruger;-)

Hey guys believe it or not I do not own a buck yet. This will be remedied soon. But I do not know which to get the 110 or the smaller woodsman. I will use the knife for the general camping chores, and to gut fish, skin deer and squirrel. I like the fixed blade clip point on the woodsman, but I love the stout compact-ness and easy belt carry for the 110. Any imput will be of great help, thanks.

The question is moot!

Buy both! :D

Purchased the 110 and I really love it. Something about Buck knives make me feel so good. I am loving this knive and this brand! I will continue to support buck knives with my hard earned money! Now can't wait till Saturday's trip!

Glad you favor the 110. It is a great choice in an all round functional knife and will provide you years of service for a scant outlay of cash. I know of at least three old timers who EDC a well honed 103 and even they like the 110 for camp chores. You just can't beat a Buck.

Well just a quick update on the camping trip... Took the family for the first time camping and the kids had a blast. We did some hiking along a creek, caught a few brookies, pitched the tent and campfire the whole 9. It was great. I have to say carrying the buck 110 I felt completely confident almost safe in its ability and dependability as a large folder. It cut like a champ, razor sharp and very solid to use. I used it for a variety of chores like cutting rope, twine, packages, food prep even cut off some small branches for kindling. I took every opportunity to use this knife and it cut great. Like many of you mentioned getting a fixed blade would be a good companion for the 110, and I concur. I will be getting probably a pathfinder real soon! Thanks again for all the imput and info!!

If you could find an old Buck 560 lockback someplace like ebay it would be slick. These have the 110 blade and a titanium handle. I have one with an upgrade BG42 alloy blade, but the regular alloy works fine. This gives you the compactness of the 110 with less weight.

The 560 is a really neat knife for sure. Only problem with carrying one, is that they are long out of production and if you should tear one up, Buck may not be able to repair it.

With the 110, they will repair it or send you a new one.

Now, what is cool, wear the 560 on one side in one of the horizontal sheaths, for light weight work, and the 110 on the other side for the heavyduty stuff.... least during deer season :)

The 560's have become collectable now. If you have an unused one, might want to keep it that way.

just my 2 centavos worth.

Scant outlay of cash is a good point when you buy a 110, or one of the others. I still have my first 110 from the mid 70's. I believe I paid something like $18 for it. If you figure what it cost per year of ownership. Scant is a good word.

Nice report Diamond. I also have that sense of confidence you talked about when carrying a well made knife like a 110.
