Unless they are polishing the G10 I dont think they can round the corners like they do on other materials used that can be polished. I dont see it as a design change.
I agree, not a design change. I think just less polishing around the bolsters in particular is what I noticed. More blocky, less rounded. That and the brushed look give it a great appearance.

Of the two choices I only own the Pro S30V; it has become one of my favorite Buck 110 knives to carry/keep with me; the build quality couldn't be any better. OH

I really want one and I'm glad to hear about how well it's built. I usually prefer natural materials, but there's something about the g-10 and brushed bolsters that's calling me. It just looks so solid. One of these days I'll finally get one....budget permitting :thumbsup:

I hear you on the price. I wish it were more like $75. I have to save a bit more for one. I am leaning toward the Pro. I simply like the looks better and I like the clip blade. But the C&C drop point is nice, too.

I say go with your gut. Don't try to talk yourself into something when something else is calling you.
If you get the clip blade, you can always save up for the other anyway and you'll probably say "Glad I got this, I knew I'd like it"!
If you get the drop point, you might say "I like it OK. This is a good knife. But I think I would have liked the clip blade better".
I like the drop point fine. I'm not sorry at all I got it. It works good and feels good in the hand - kinda almost places itself to where it can cut the best on it's own, if that makes any sense. And that's probably because of the weight difference from my "regular" 110's. Cuts no prob. It's got more than enough point to dig out a sliver. But then, a drop point fits itself to what I use a knife for just fine.
So, if you find yourself doing a lot of tasks that require "getting that point in there" to get the job started, and sometimes relying on that area to do the cutting, or if you sometimes pry on things more than you should, get the clip.
If you don't really require the design and "cut-ability"of the point on the clip blade. And can get by with the very good point on the drop, and want to try something different, get the drop point. It's a good one I think it won't disappoint (get it? sorry).
If you are really on the fence, get the knife from somebody that has a good "return for store credit" policy and cover your butt.

Well, I finally decided. I am going with the 110 Pro. I ordered one and it should be here in a few weeks. Thanks to all who helped me decide.

I was intrigued with the light weight of the aluminum (and still may get one) but I really like the ruggedness of the G10/brushed NS look with the clip point. Plus, I just think the NS will hold up better than the Al version if I ever had to use it hard.

I have a C&C S30V DP 110 with brushed nickel bolsters and back micarta (more similar to the Pro) and the red aluminum one... and a few other 110's.

Personally, I prefer the DP but that's more personal preference and use. As much as I like the heavier version and brushed bolsters, I just usually reach for the aluminum one if I decide to carry a 110 that day.

I think the two most substantial differences that you should consider is which of these characteristics you want:

1. Heavier knife with a CP
2. Lighter knife with a DP

For the price, I really would suggest picking up both.

I don't understand all of the hoopla concerning the Pro model. For a few dollars more you can order one from the Custom Shop and get a more re-finely finished knife.JMHO
