Buck 110 question.

Is it intended as a finger guard, or is being a finger guard merely a coincidence?

Seriously... I was always under the impression it was there to alleviate the pinch/snag point where the lock notch on the blade would be exposed without.

The front of the knife is dimensionally similar to the 110. They designed the handle to provide room to pinch the blade to open it. Remember, early 112s had no nail nick. The 110 has the benefit of being long enough that the transition from front to rear is gradual enough to serve the same purpose but be less of a hook at the front.

Perhaps it's a finger guard that coincidentally alleviates that pinch and snag gap.

Chicken - V - Egg... what say you?

that's a good point and visual there, to show it.

Hey OB. I could only find a couple of 112's w/5160. Could you send me a PM with the link to the 110 w/5160?
At my membership level, I can't send PMs. That's why I posted in this thread. But the listing is ended now. It looks like someone beat you to it by 1/2 hour. Sorry.

O.B.

Another knife that I was unaware of it's existence... I'm curious, anyone know how many were made for C&C? That would give some idea on how elusive it might be to find one. Uncle Timbo... I'll add you to my list of people that I'm keeping an eye out for stuff during my "travels".

Tank you, caquino!
I'd sign up for alerts on their website.
Even though Claude told me that Buck cut them off?

OK. My thanks to all who have replied. I can call off the dogs on looking for a 5160 blade....FOUND ONE! Now I'm in the hunt for some nickle/silver bolsters for a 110. I think I might have to buy a custom knife from Buck with a standard 420HC blade, nickle bolsters and elk slabs. Then pull the switcheroonie.
Can anybody offer me any insight?
