Buck 110 question...?

There are scenarios where either could be worth more, but I think you mean in general.

Since the ones with three pins are older and lots of people like old stuff, they have a good chance of being worth more. Since they're old, lots of them have been beat up, so that means there are fewer of them around in good condition. That helps.

That's the capsule summary of a profoundly complex issue.

Chili,

Check out the sticky at the top for 110 data info sheet which will give some pin info and dates to help answer the question. Many 110 experts will patrol this threat and answer any specific questions you have-I aint one of em sorry to say.

Welcome

I've not seen many 4 pin 110's perhaps 334 Dave or Larry O. have . The ones I've seen for sale usually went for alittle higher . That still means little as I'm only talking about 4-5 . If one of the aforementioned guys said it I'd write it down . I'd add George Stenzel to that list as well . DM

It just depends if he is counting the rocker pin as one of the pins or not.

Is why a pic helps.

Chili.. The top larger pin is the rocker pin for the lock bar.

The smaller ones are scale (handle/inlay) pins.

I like the old ones with one scale pin in front and one in back, more so than the ones with one scale pin in front (near blade) and two in back.

There is one fairly rare version that has one in front and three in back. That one is worth a bit more. If in good condition.

And, there is mention in the Blade Guide of one rare one that had no inlay pins at all, even the rocker pin.

There hasn't been many pics of that one posted here.

Pack, good post . Glad you spelled it out . I tend to assume too much when I post just thought the 1 front and 3 rear(brass pins) was what he was meaning . But your right it could be something different . DM

so if they are including the rocker as a pin
(yes i have heard of this some times)
then they would mean a 5 pin or 4 pin or 3 pin
but if this fellow knows the diff of a pin and a rocker pivit
then it is a yes that a 4 rivet pin is worth more
jest as a dubble dash is worth more >>>
because there are not many of them...

Chili,

That price seems a tad high for that knife. Might be glad you missed out on it. Some of those wen't for less than $20 after the initial run was over. Walmart sold them as a special run Christmas thing in 2007.

Maybe someone will kick in here about them.

Hang around and pick up on good info about the 110.

And fwiw.... you can buy a brand new 110 from walmart for $30 or less.

here is a thread about those...

I bought mine for $14.95 ea. last November or December on Amazon.

Somebody was looking out for me! Thanks for the information! I really appreciate it!

Best regards,
FC

Chili,
I havent seen one of the $20 specials since summer but I think a good target and a price worth paying is $30 shipped or so-If you are patient that is very doable. I see some of these guys posting BIN for $50-$75 plus shipping:eek:

Seems to me places like amazon had a guy selling low as well back then.

I appreciate the advice! I actually used to have an older Buck 110 that I sold on eBay because I really preferred my Schrade LB7.

Now, I find I"m missing it and want to buy another to replace it. Ahh...regrets...

I just want to get a good quality one for a decent price, but don't know enough about the deep technical facts to shop smart and so I came here. Everyone has been very helpful!

If thats the case chili, hop on over to walmart and get one for $29.99-I also heard Gander mt has 1/2 off knives this week and the one near me has a 110 with a little 425 keychain knife bonus. Normally 39.99 $20 half off.

I'm hoping to get an older model though. I don't know...for me it just seems like it is more of a "Buck" and carries the heritage more if it is vintage. Just me, but I'm nostalgic that way.:)

Thanks for the thought though!
