Buck 110 Serrated Blade

Yes, all factory. The third one down is the custom shoppe with blue indigo that I posted additional photos of. The gold ion is a limited run as I recall. The other two are build outs.

Here are some additional photos of the gold ion as it has different serrations than the other three.

The bottom knife with finger grooves in the first picture with 4 knives has different serrations too, 3 groups instead of 4

For me I prefer a fully serrated blade to make use of this benefit. So, 2 different blades. For cutting the stuff you mention a coarsely sharpened edge works fine. For slicing apples a plain edge works fine. If you have to have a partially serrated edge then get it. Buck's Custom Shop will do you a nice job. hammer, thanks for these nice photos. DM

You're quite welcome David. I think a fully serrated, drop point 110 and 112 would be quite nice. I'd go for one of each as a collectible at the very least if not as users. A clip point version would be kind of neat as well. Heck a fully serrated Marksman would float my boat not to mention a fully serrated 124 Frontiersman. Now that would be unusual.

I think it's just the angle that makes it look like a third type of serration. Here are some more photos of that one, palmwood 110 with red liner and I think 420HC blade. If these photos don't help I'll dig them out this weekend and take some better comparison photos.

Hammer, I see what GIII is talking about. The 1st knife does have 3 deep file marks and the others have 4 in the serration pattern. I use my serrated blades for pruning trees and cutting thick stemmed weeds. DM

I have blades with the serrated pattern like that on the middle and bottom one in bucktool's photo. These really work. DM

Oh. Now I see it. Thanks

Ok, I checked and my Selector fully serrated blade has the same pattern as the bottom 'Custom' 110 in Bucktool's photo. DM

I've never been a fan of serrated blades, and other than on a bread knife, have no use to them. They are never sharp. They "cut" by ripping and/or tearing. They are not suitable for making feather sticks or whittling ... If I need a saw, which is what a serrated blade is, IMHO, I'll use a regular saw.
(Also, a serrated blade is considered a "weapon" in a lot of jurisdictions.)
