BUCK 110

From the OP, I think the 110 with the pocket clip has really been overlooked. I REALLY like mine, but have kind of thought about putting it away as a collectible in case it was a one time knife. Been trying to order a backup and they sell out quick. Decided to order another, and it was out of stock for awhile. I was away on vacation and noticed they were back in stock, about a week later when I was home went to order and they were already out of stock again. Look to be in again now, so I'm going to try to pick up another and put one away. They seem to be a sleeper, yet hard to get ahold of.

I bought duplicates of the last two versions with pocket clips. the lochsa without thumb stud kinda version and the bone one. exactly for those reasons.

we got the 110 slims coming out soon with pocket clips in micarta and plastic so those should be available for awhile and solve the one hand opening and easy pocket carry.

Very Very Impressive:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thank you. Someone here posted a pic of a Buck they got on lettgo app. I loaded it and am picking up another tomorrow for $10. Only one pic so I'm not sure what it is yet, but could be anything from a 3rd version to a 2 dot. All I know its an old square frame with two small scale pins with full blade that should respond very well to a spa treatment.

Since my first Buck110, the charm, passion & attraction of buying a 110 has neither reduced, nor let slowed down, it’s only with tremendous will power & self restraint/determination that I do not buy 110 anymore, after seeing tht pic, I must confess Im tempted tho...;)
Cheers!

Upon closer look, as I didn’t pay attention to the rocker rivit, which is brass headed, it must be either 3rd 9th, 4th 1st or 5th 1st. Already have 4th 1st, so I hope it’s one of the others.

Slightly worried the crap on blade is pitting rust, but I think it’s just something that never got cleaned off.

Nice group, imafritz, just curious why you don't have/show an Alaskan Guide or any black bladed 110? Preston
7th from left on top row is Ti coated with cpm 154, build out. I don’t own a single alaskan for some reason. Black oxide doesn’t really do it for me

The black oxide on the Alaskan is really TDLC, Tungsten Diamond Like Carbon. It is Tungsten Carbide (HRC 72) that is Physically Deposited from a Vapor in a vacuum chamber. This PVD coating is so hard that you can use the sides of the coated blade as a finishing steel for other blades. This coating is also extremely resistant to scratching.

Right, I knew I was oversimplifying the term(though I thought it was titanium nitride that was infused via described procedure). I dig those. The comment on black oxide was understood to be a difference, but I am not a fan of them. Don't really care for the look, with exceptions of course, and they scratch too easily.

I took some 2000 grit sandpaper and rubbed as much of the black oxide as I could off my stag 110 and it looks really cool now. It's like a gun metal look or a dark patina. It also helped with the gritty look and feel of the blade.

OK, I see that now, just missed it...it's probably left over from a Bass Pro SFO. They used the CPM 154. Neither the AG or Bass Pro was black oxide.

Which 110 are you talking about that had a black oxide blade? Pictures?
Just curious, Preston

None, I was just saying I don't care for black oxide, so I don't have any. I'd like to pick up more tdlc's. Money always an issue. I have a vantage force pro with black oxide, it rubs the liner a little and has removed BO. I don't carry it much to keep blade ok, plus the off center blade bugs me.

imafritz, below, is the post that I was asking about the 110. Preston

I don't have any pictures right now, but it's a Copper and Clad model. I think they still have some on there. Pretty nice version...

OK, thanks, they are showing two with B O now. One is stag, the other with white G-10. Preston
