Buck 110

The one in front of me right now is as tight as a drum. Open or closed she's sweet. I did however open half a dozen boxes at the sporting goods store to hear/feel them walk n' talk, until I found "the one". This was accompanied by a look of judgemental boredom from the young female salesclerk. You know the one. She can't open the glass display lock without asking for help. ;) The wood on both sides is matched, has a semi iridescent shimmer and is just darn handsome. Hats off to Buck knives that I can still pick up a folder (with a good sheath), that gives so much pleasure for so little $$$$. Makes me wonder why I waited so many years to get one again.

I would want to be able to check out as many 110s as it would take to come up with one that is satisfactory. I don't think I would order one from an online store, unless they were willing to check for me.

I'm far from any expert buddy and I'm sure that variances in QC may happen now and then. However, the batch that I checked out were pretty darn good. I am the type though that wil personaly check out as many as I can reasonably get away with. The kindness of strangers is not to be underestimated however and a kindly worded letter may well get you a knife checked out for the specifics/qualities that you request. I find that a phone call, then a letter request addressed to the individual on the phone, pretty much guarantees quality service for me.

Maybe one of you can help me. I have a 110 conversion. I do not know who did the work but I know it has a coil spring. When closed, the tip of the blade is not centered at all but sits all the way to the side. If you push it will move but it definately does not rattle at all and it fires very well albeit a bit slowly. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was normal for a 110 as you all have obviously been looking closely at a bunch of them recently. Sorry to jump in on the thread here if that is not acceptable but I've been looking for an answer for weeks now to no avail. Thanks guys. Dt
