Dudes,

I tried last night to pick up the prob with my digital but the light was all wonky...so much glare I couldn't get it to settle down

Both knives are the same ...I wish I could show you what I am talking about...

The gouges are localted on either edge of the bolsters...where the grinder jumps from the hard brass... and onto the wood...leaves a gouge...of the 4 places it could exist(2 knives...) it is on 3 places....

I would guess Buck knows...if they don't...they should...

So what are you waiting for to send them back & let them know about these "badly gouged" handles? Then again, I guess you're too busy trying to figure out how to operate your camera with the wonky lighting & all.

I've seen plenty of errors in all brands of knives. I don't doubt that some 110's aren't perfect, even if most are good.

Shane, bring on the pictures so Jeff and Joe can see. I bet it's just a random goof and hardly ever happens, but there's no reason to not let Buck know about it.

Yeah Shane, we're all waiting for those pics. There's no doubt some 110's aren't perfect. I've passed on some for what I felt was too much blade play or the handles didn't match very well. (for my liking anyway) But if I ever got one with "badly gouged" handles, I'd certainly let Buck know about it & send it back. As I think most here would. So here's a knifemaker that bought 2 NIB 110's with "badly gouged" handles, yet somehow can't figure out how to take pics of these knives to show us what he's talking about. You know, the "wonky" lighting & all. (or get someone he knows to do it for him) OK, I can live with that. Then at some point the guy says "Buck should know about the problem....if they don't... they should" .So wouldn't you think having said that, he'd contact Buck & send these knives back??? No, as he said, he's gonna just keep them as beaters around the shop. Well, I guess that's a good way of letting Buck know about these "badly gouged" handles. I must be the only one that sees something wrong with this picture. No pun intended.

Shane, just send it to BKI, 660 S. Lochsa Street, Post Falls, ID 83854-5200. ATTN: Jeff Hubbard. Preston

Guys,

I appreciate the insults.

Honestly, I had not come back to this thread as I believed it was a dead matter.

Somebody mentioned my inability to work a camera.

In short I can take a picture of the folks at Christmas time...but figuring out how to bend the light from the flash so it does not glare off the brass has me stumped. A picture of the knives would show you little more than profile and shapes...not real detail. As for having somebody else do it... not sure why I would go to the effort. I have already wasted more than $46 worth of time typing about it...frankly...I am not emotionally invested in Buck or this thread to proceed further just so you all can be satisfied that I am not dishonest.

It would seem that you folks won't accept my word on it...and that is all I have to offer. I do not hide behind computer screens or false identities...
I use my given name...because I work hard to be known as an honest person and businessman.

If I say these knives have the problems they have...then you can bet they do. Somebody said not all knives are perfect...that is true...but mostly...I would guess consistancy is more important.

I mentioned if Buck does not know..they ought to...point of order here...
Not my job to do QC for Buck. Not my job to hand hold one of the leaders in the industry. They have a good customer support team..and if a customer is unhappy...they will make it right.

I personally am content that these knives will perform the jobs I need them to... I have no vanity about their appearance. I never really owned a knife as a status symbol...they are tools.

To spend more time...and money just to have them corrected or changed makes no sense to me...

I guess...open conversation and observarions are not welcome..as some folks feel threatened by somebody like me.

So...you have gone out of your way to insult me...poking fun at my manner of speech...accused me of falsehood and basically gone out of your way to say it ain't so...

That's ok by me. Ridicule is always an interseting tool in social environments...but I have no time for it.

If any of you want to come by the shop...and look me in the face...we can talk about it....I will point out all of the little strangnesses. Until then, that is my final word on the matter.

Shane
