Buck 111 vs. 110

Now I have a question about the 111's myself. I can't seem to find them listed in Bucks catalogs. I wanted to check the specs for sure, but I can't find them. I believe that last year was their final production year, but so far I haven't found them in a catalog.

Anyone know when they were?

the new 111 was discontuned some time ago...
you will still see them on ebay nib
howerer there are sellers selling
Iron wood LE or Customs and they are not
buck used a wrong number and the sellers are scarfing on it !
one seller i emailed went to this to get around the solid wood issue
"Handles are Laminated Desert Hardwood."
yea i emailed him but he has a pot load to dump ..
from a seller in NC i sent one back and they refused it
ask for picts of the rocker side if it is lamanated it is a false listing !!!
most 111 were brass, some nickel ...
the design is still avabile for a customer to make a large order of them...

Hmmm, I've never seen a single 111 with brass bolsters. All I've ever seen are NS. I have 11 or so of them and all are NS.

Is the one in the top picture brass? It looks like NS on my screen. The third one down in the second picture is brass for sure. First one I've ever seen.

Interesting. Are they LE's or buildouts? Like I said before, I've never seen any but the NS offered anywhere.

Something funny to me is the fact that I haven't been able to find them in the catalogs posted on the BCCI website. I've only looked back as far as 2000, but they just aren't shown.

there were quite a number made for the opening event
off hand i can think of 4 difrent issues
3 of which were employee issues
i revise that to about half the issues were nickel
it is hard to fit the scales on them ...
there were supplyers like smkw that ordered issues

Just seems strange that even the plain jane everyday 111 doesn't show up in the catalogs. Wonder why that is?

My only 111 doesnt have a date stamp on it and I've wondered why and how old it is-laminated and not ironwood. I seem to think the seller called it ironwood but I figgered he didnt know what he was talking about cause I see them listed that way all the time and the picture shows plainly a standard ocheebee type scale. I was happy with the price and would have been a spectacual surprise if it turned out to be ironwood afterall.

I have a couple with no date stamp amd I seem to remember that someone from Buck said that they were made the first year in Post Falls. The blades never got stamped with the year mark. I also have the ones that went to SMKWs as the special last production runs. They don't have date stamps either.

I've also seen those advertised as "ironwood" that weren't and one seller even said that the boxes were mismarked. I have two of the real ironwood and there is no way to mistake the standard wood for one of them. Here's a picture of the real thing.

Longbow, Plum and JB,
Those are all nice looking knives-very interesting on the brass bolstered though, I'm like Plum and always thought they were purely n/s.
